So yesterday I upgraded my phone, today I got a text saying that I have used up all of the roaming data and I'll be charged for any extra. I HAVEN'T EVEN RECEIVED THE PHONE! How could I have possibly used 30GB of data within 12 hours

This is nothing to worry about, it’s just a strange way the system works with getting rid of the previous plan’s fair usage data.
You’ve moved onto the new plan, and have new fair usage data.
The team are aware and looking into this message being sent.
