new contract, new phone - no roaming in Italy, even after an hour of LiveChat help last night.

I’m on a new iphone16, sent to me last week. Switched from EE and waiting - until Friday?! - for my PAC code to be activated and my old number to be moved to ID-mobile. Bought an eSim instead of a physical SIM. Monthly contract paying 30pounds/month. Migrated all my stuff from old iphone to new iphone and am now in Italy. I have no roaming and no data. I have followed all the instructions online. Still no roaming. Often in the instructions you’re telling me to follow for an iphone16, the opitions and selections you’re telling me to set do not mirror what I see in my phone settings. I spent over an hour on LiveChat last night, no fix. If I can’t get this fixed, I just want to cancel the whole contract. I’ve never had so much trouble. Someone please help?

I’ve done Reset. my new phone is running iOS 18.4.1, model number MYE93QN/A…. Serial number L4VQQ4RFXW. 

LiveChat is telling me to manually select a different network carrier. That is not an option in my Settings.

Search for Network Selection in the iPhone settings menu. You need to select either of the following roaming partners TIM S.p.A, Vodafone Italy, or H3G S.p.A.

Do you have no signal whatsoever or just no data?

 

Have you had issues whilst on iD in the UK?

No, ​@MZone’s help didn’t solve the problem unfortunately.

I was also on LiveChat for 90 minutes just now and no solution so I’m told a ticket has been raised.

My iphone 16 menus are different than what LiveChat expects to see. Not sure why.

I have one or two bars, no access to internet unless I’m logged onto hotel WiFi.

And no texts coming in.

And when I try to access a webpage, I get “Safari can’t open the page because your iPhone not connected to the internet’.

On LiveChat, she told me to change to WINDRE or Vodafone IT. I was able to do this, but it didn’t make any difference. Everyone with me is getting data and mobile service through TIM Italia but I guess ID-mobile doesn’t include this provider.

Not sure what to try next. I transferred to new contract and phone from EE last week and I did so because I needed free EU Roaming. But if ID-mobile can’t make it work, I’m regretting the switch. Have spend literally 3 hours on three separate LiveChats since I landed in Pisa 30 hours ago. Never had so much trouble before!?
