Roaming in Australia

I’m afraid I’m not very knowledgeable about these things and am very confused as to how I can use my iPhone whilst visiting Australia. We will only be there for a couple of weeks but will need to be able to call the UK and have access to emails etc. Can anyone explain in simple terms what our options are please?

Set your iD account bill cap as high as possible before leaving the UK, and then be prepared to pay alot for roaming in Australia, @DK1083.

Thanks. It might be less of a worry, (and cheaper), to buy a SIM card locally as others have suggested..
