Does it cost anything to receive mobile calls when roaming in Canada/USA? I am aware of the costs for making calls but it’s not clear if receiving calls is free.

Hi @mordase,

Calls received* £1.50 £1.50
Texts to United States** £0.42 £0.42
Texts to UK** £0.42 £0.42
Picture message (MMS) sent** £0.60 £0.60
Internet and Data (per MB)*** £0.30 £0.30

For Canada please see the charges below:

Roaming Pay monthly Pay-as-you-go
Calls to UK* £6.00 £6.00
Calls to Canada* £6.00 £6.00
Calls received* £1.50 £1.50
Texts to Canada** £1.20 £1.20
Texts to UK** £1.20 £1.20

I hope this helps.

Is there a cheaper roaming package for Canada? If not, what must I do to make data cheap?

If your phone supports an esim there are numerous providers of cheap data. I took out service for one month for 10GB data (not voice) that was significantly cheaper than paying the ID data roaming fee. You can then use WhatsApp, FaceTime , Skype etc for voice calls and not incur large costs. If you rely on incoming calls to your ID mobile number then yes you will pay the above charge.

Hi there @Simon Baines, welcome to Community!

We unfortunately do not offer any roaming packages/bundles I’m afraid, all charges for roaming outside the 50 or so EU countries included in our inclusive roaming package will cost out of contract charges I’m afraid.

Thanks,

Tyler

Good luck, ID won't work in the USA.

They take your money and then let you down.

I had it in Wyoming this year. Most annoying.

Hi @Steve Bedder,

Welcome to the Community!

Sorry to hear that about the issues you experienced in the USA.

Should you have issues in the future, please let us know whilst you are there.

Kash

I did let you know while I was there.

I contacted id through the hotel wifi and they advised buy more data.

I did that

Still no good.

I contacted id again and the said I could only use the data back in the uk when I got home.

Id are rubbish at customer service and now won't give me a refund.

Steve
