Roaming not working in France

Hi,
I've read your FAQ, everything looks OK on phone and my account and yet I'm not able to browse.

My phone sees the available networks you partner with in France (visible when in manual scan). The APN is well set, greyed out though so I can't edit it, I can only discard it. Not sure if this is relevant to mention.

Effective browsing would require your phone to be in LTE/3G mode, not 2G only.

Your screenshots appear to show your phone is in 2G only mode while roaming in France, meaning mobile data transfers would be using GPRS or EDGE, both very slow.

I'm actually on LTE/3g.

I'm using a dual sim smartphone. And the 1st one is the ID mobile sim using an auto feature which includes LTE and works well when in London. I locked the 2nd sim on 2g because I want to make sure that only the ID mobile sim is used for browsing. I used this setup back in November 2021 and it was working great. I don't recall having changed anything.

You see also that the 1st sim is the one with roaming activated with the R symbol on the first signal icon from the left side.

Okay @crazy-matt, I’m not familiar with a dual SIM setup, but can you actually use both SIM cards simultaneously?

I see the “R” by the signal strength bars in your screenshots, but it’s not clear which SIM is active.

What handset are you using for your dual SIM setup?

My bad @andewhite

I came back to London and was having the same issue until I had the idea of restarting my phone. And it fixed it. So I guess I was having the same issue in france.

Restarting is always worth a try - glad it worked on this occasion.

Hello @crazy-matt

Usually with a dual SIM you can set which SIM uses data and both use calls/texts.

You can’t use data on both SIM cards due to how phones are setup.

If you do have issues, try taking out the other SIM and only using the iD SIM to set it up properly.

Then re-insert the SIM after once it’s working.

I often see these issues with dual SIM phones and it’s down to settings.

I noticed also it showed:

Network Mode 2G only fr

Our SIM doesn’t support 2G which could have been a factor.
