Roaming with iD sim in unlocked 4g EE wifi mini

I have an unlocked 4g EE Wifi mini hub which is very convenient as a data hotspot when roaming in Europe.  However, whilst my iD mobile sim works happily in the Wifi mini in the UK, it refuses to connect to the network in France.  Sims from other providers have previously worked fine when used in the mini hotspot in Europe - and my iD mobile sim works happily in Europe in a Xiaomi phone.  I have looked at the settings available by logging in to the mini but other than the ‘Profile’ they are few and far between.  The profile defaults to ‘Three’ which I understand to be the network used by iD.  Can anyone offer any help?

Unfortunately, we are not able to support our SIM’s being used in routers so would not be able to offer troubleshooting on the device. 

If the SIM works in an handset and not the router, it may be due to the configurations for roaming.
