Roaming - wrong country detected

I'm roaming (free) in Greece and Cyprus, but I've had messages saying “Welcome to the USA” and have been charged high rates for data usage. Why has this happened? How can I prevent this and how do I get the incorrect charging refunded?

Hi, iv just landed in Greece (Rhodes) and I had a txt saying welcome to Montenegro. Which mean I’m now getting roaming charges.  Can we please fix this?

Hi @Jenb ,

Thanks for getting in touch, and I’m really sorry for the confusion. Rhodes is part of our Roam Free zone, so you shouldn’t be charged extra. Sometimes phones can connect to nearby networks like Montenegro by mistake, especially near borders or coastal areas.
We’d love to help sort this out. Please reach out via Facebook, Instagram, Live Chat, our Community, or email socialqueries@idmobile.co.uk with your details ,we’re here to help

Best regards,

You need to change your device settings from automatic network selection to manual and manually select the network you want to roam on. When set to automatic, your device will lock onto the mast that offers the strongest signal no matter where in the world you or the mast are. That’s exactly how roaming is supposed to work.
