using mobile in the US

Hello, I understand it can be expensive making or receiving calls from the US on ID mobile? I have a couple of questions,

  1. If I connect to Wi-Fi in a hotel does it still cost me anything or is it free across the internet?
  2. can I buy a package for just a month while I am visiting that is cheaper than paying for each message. It is likely that I will be using Wattsapp and messaging rather than calling?

thank you

  1. The provider of the Wi-Fi network in the hotel may or may not charge for Internet access. Check with the hotel.
  2. No add-on / package is available from iD Mobile, for roaming in the USA.

When I visited the USA in 2023, I bought a data-only eSIM for my iPhone, and used this for mobile data while in the USA.

Have a good trip, @Adrian Owen.

Thank you. That’s really helpful. Did you buy your data only SIM from the UK or when you got to the States?

I got mine while in the UK, @Adrian Owen

You might want to investigate https://roamless.com, which looks very interesting.

I’ve used GoMoWorld and Soracom Mobile for data only eSIM plans.
