Got an old phone gathering dust? Whether you're upgrading to a new device or want to cash in on your unused tech, trading in your phone is a smart move. It’s quick, easy, and good for both your wallet and the planet. Here’s everything you need to know about our Trade-In service:
How do I trade in my old phone?
- Get a Quote.
Start by getting a valuation for your old phone. Enter your phone’s brand, model, or IMEI number into our online tool, let us know its condition, and we’ll give you an instant trade-in quote. We accept most brands, networks, and models, even if they’re broken, non-working, or not bought from us.
- Send Us Your Phone.
Happy with the quote? Great! We’ll send you a pre-paid postage bag (it might take up to 10 working days to arrive) so you can send your phone back to us free of charge. Package your phone securely, pop it in the bag, and send it off to Currys—no need to include any accessories.
Make sure you’ve removed all your personal data from the phone. If you haven’t done this, don’t worry, we’ll handle the data wipe for you.
Important information: Don’t forget to turn off Find my iPhone or Google's Factory Reset Protection before posting your phone to us. If these features aren't disabled, we won't be able to process your trade-in, and your phone will be returned to you.
- Inspection Time.
Once we’ve received your phone, one of our Currys tech experts will inspect it to ensure it matches the condition you described. If everything checks out, we’ll proceed with your quoted price. If your phone’s not quite as described, we may need to adjust the value. We’ll send you an email letting you know what we found and provide a new quote.
- Get paid. Easy!
Once your phone condition is confirmed, you’ll receive your payment within 1-3 working days. We’ll keep you in the loop every step of the way and will email you when we receive the phone, once we’ve valued it and as soon as the payment has been made.
How do I claim an enhanced trade-in?
If you’re claiming an ‘Enhanced Trade-In’ promotion, make sure to fill out this form before sending back your phone. Once we’ve received and verified it, your promotional payment will be processed separately, so you’ll receive two separate payments.
What happens with my phone once it’s traded-in?
If your phone is in good condition, it will likely be refurbished and given a new lease of life. If it has some damage but still has usable parts, we might strip it down and recycle the components, ensuring that valuable materials don’t go to waste. And if it’s beyond repair, we’ll ensure it’s recycled properly, keeping it out of landfill and helping to reduce e-waste.
