When i attempt to enable it, there is a message pops up saying contact Three to enable Personal Hotspot on this device. I have not been able to find out how to make contact.

Hotspot works fine in UK.

Hey there @Russell Hickman, thank you for reaching out.

To confirm, are you using the iD Mobile SIM card inside an iPad, is that correct?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @Russell Hickman,

Please can you test the SIM in a Mobile handset and see if you get the same issue?

The issue may only be due to hotspot roaming on an iPad.

Unfortunately I am in UK at the moment so I am not on EU roaming and unable to perform that test.

I should also state that I have in the past had Vodafone & Virgin SIM in the iPAD and Hotspot worked fine

when on EU Roaming.  I used it to tether my laptop.

Hi @Russell Hickman

Okay, it’s worth noting that an iPad is not an officially supported device with iD Mobile SIM card, we wouldn’t be able to guarantee that many (or any) services would work whilst using one, sorry.

Hi Tom

Completely unaware of that ….

However. It works in UK ! So I doubt it’s that.

As i mentioned, when roaming I get a message saying i needed to contact ‘Three’ to get it enabled.  Can you do that on my behalf or at least contact them to find out what’s going on please ?  Do they need to do something as the underlying provider ? I suspect it’s a rather crude measure to prevent it being used as a hub, which is actually not my intention. I simply want the ability to use as a personal hotspot when roaming for my own purposes.

thanks

Hi Tom,

I was not aware of that, however as i mentioned before, personal hotspot works in UK. So I doubt it’s a device issue.

When i attempt to enable hotspot when roaming i get a message saying i need to contact three. So i believe the issue lies with them which as i understand it, is the underlying carrier for iD mobile.  Can you contact them to investigate please ?

thanks

Hello @Russell Hickman

Thank you for getting in touch.

As we do not support our SIM’s being used in tablets or accessories, we would not be able to run an investigation in to this.

With issues whilst roaming, we are only able to troubleshoot whilst you are outside of the UK. If you do travel again, we recommend testing the SIM in a handset to see if you get the same problem.

If you do, please get in touch and we can look in to this further.

Thanks,

Natalie
