Protection against Sim Swapping Attack?

Hi,

A scam program has highlighted scams whereby the scammer ports your mobile number by fraudulently contacting your network provider and using stolen information to get your mobile number ported to a SIM card under their control

This can then allow the scammers to receive codes sent over text messages, which many banks still do.

How do ID Mobile protect customers from this?

Thanks

Hey there @mrcarrot66, thank you for your great question.

We have many security protocols to stop scammers from doing PAC fraud.

We firstly require a one-time password to be sent to the customers SIM, of which only yourself should have. We also will require photo ID depending which platform your contacting us from, which again, only you should have.

We also can set up a password on your account via the customers request, which again, only you should have and can only pass security if given said password.

Although we will always require your general customer personal details, we also have other numerous security protocols to prevent this from happening and keeping our customers safe from scammers.

    Thanks,

    Tyler

Thanks, though that's not what I asked

I'd like to understand what is offered to customers to prevent this

Account security is incredibly lax, so what process prevents someone fraudulently porting a number?

Thanks, being able to set up a password is handy, I'll look into that. I'm pleased to hear there's proper protocol in place here.

@MZone appreciate you tagging someone else. Your link is also useful it's just not quite what I was looking for in this case

How do I set up a password on my account via the customers request? I can’t see this on the app.

It says above you can set up a password via customer request. Do I need to phone to do that because that option is not on the app.

It’s a customer service pin not a password. Can be found and changed under plan then customer service pin via the app/web login.
