Protection against Sim Swapping Attack?

Hi,

A scam program has highlighted scams whereby the scammer ports your mobile number by fraudulently contacting your network provider and using stolen information to get your mobile number ported to a SIM card under their control

This can then allow the scammers to receive codes sent over text messages, which many banks still do.

How do ID Mobile protect customers from this?

Thanks

Hey there @mrcarrot66, thank you for your great question.

We have many security protocols to stop scammers from doing PAC fraud.

We firstly require a one-time password to be sent to the customers SIM, of which only yourself should have. We also will require photo ID depending which platform your contacting us from, which again, only you should have.

We also can set up a password on your account via the customers request, which again, only you should have and can only pass security if given said password.

Although we will always require your general customer personal details, we also have other numerous security protocols to prevent this from happening and keeping our customers safe from scammers.

    Thanks,

    Tyler

Yes it is set up automatically when you first order and they tell you what it is in the welcome emails. You can also change it to something more memorable should you wish to.

    Hi @Puffdaddy4687,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

Kindly note that the app usually allows you to set up a password upon registration, as well as your account has a private 4-digit CS PIN, that only you would know and you provide that to our customer service team when getting in touch.

If you are wanting more security on your account, you are able to get in touch with our customer service team via live chat, you can reach them here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat, they will be able to explain all the available options regarding your account protection.

@oliukguy, the same would apply to you. If you are wanting extra security on your account, kindly contact our customer service team on live chat, they’d be more than happy to assist the both of you.
