Stop Scam Test Messages on Daughter's Phone

Both my daughter and I use ID Mobile.  I’ve had my account with ID Mobile for a long time (perhaps 10 years) and my number for over 20 years.  My daughter has had her account and number for a little over a year.  I receive very few scam phone calls and text message - perhaps 1 a year.  My daughter is receiving approx. one every couple of days.

Is there a way to prevent my daughter from receiving these messages (or at least reduce it)?  Would changing her number help, and how is this done?  Is there any reason why she would be receiving so many?

Hey there @Alan9876543210, we’re very sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately, there’s not much that we as a network can do when someone is receiving calls/texts. We can only advise to block and ignore these calls/texts where possible.

If you wish to change the number, then that typically incurs a £25.00 charge, which we can advise further on if you wish to do so.

Thanks,

Tyler

Would the £25 guarantee an unused number (I suspect my daughter has inherited someone else's disconnected number)?  She's on a monthly rolling contract, so it would obviously be free to start another contract with a new SIM card and terminate the current one.

No, because there is no such thing as an unused number anymore.

So it's just pot luck on whether a new SIM would have a number that's on a spamming list?

Hey there @Alan9876543210, we cannot guarantee if the number you received would’ve been used or not I’m afraid, it’d simply be a randomly generated phone number that we have control of in our systems.

Thanks,

Tyler
