Just purchase a new Doro phone (2404) for my father, to replace his 3G only door.
swapped out SIM card to new phone and not able to make or receive calls or txt messages
do I need a new 4G SIM ?

No such thing as a 4G SIM card!
The Doro 2404 won’t work on the id Mobile network as it’s a 2G device. It can only be used on the EE, Vodafone or O2 networks or an MVNO that uses one of those networks to provide a service.

You may need to put the iD Mobile SIM in a supported device for it to work, unfortunately the Doro 2404 isn’t supported officially, sorry.
