Apple iPhone 16 Pro cannot make or receive calls or text messages

I am using a physical SIM card in my Apple iPhone 16 Pro.

I am unable to make or receive phone calls and SMS.

Mobile data is working though.

If I put a SIM card into my Samsung Galaxy S22, then everything works as expected.

How can I make my SIM card work on Apple iPhone 16 Pro?

Open settings, select apps, scroll down and select phone, and where it says “My number” type your number starting with a 0(zero). Then click save.

There might be an issue with iPhone devices on the iD Mobile network in areas where their 3G network service has been switched OFF, @mantasbu

Okay @mantasbu, the following steps might help fix this, especially if the iD 3G network service has been switched OFF in your area.

  • Turn OFF your iPhone, and carefully remove the iD SIM.
  • Wait for at least 30-minutes, with the device OFF and the SIM removed.
  • Carefully insert the iD SIM in the SIM tray of your device, and power ON.

I confirm that this did not work. What else could I do?

You need to enter your mobile number into the devices settings. Been mentioned here time and time again.

Sometimes it shows 4G and sometimes it shows 5G so I don’t think it is 3G.

How could I enter my mobile number into the device settings?

Using another SIM card (giffgaff) works without doing any other additional steps.

Hello, I have tried literally everything and I am still having issues. I have had a replacement SIM, I have run the diagnostics with Apple, I have reset my entire phone and there are no issues yet I still cannot make calls or texts. I have contacted ID mobile 5 times this week and run through troubleshooting - does anyone else have any suggestions? I can;’t even cancel my contract as they want to charge £500

Hi @Anna Claxton,

Welcome to the Community!

Can you advise if troubleshooting was carried out with the team you contacted?

If not we can PM you and look into this. However if you require a quicker response you can contact the Live Chat Team.

Yes I have contacted live chat 5 times in the past week as unable to make calls or receive texts - I have also been to Currys to pick up a new SIM and this has not resolved my issues. I really need someone to confirm that the porting has taken place and also a reset of my line. I am not able to receive text messages either so cannot gain access to many apps including banks/credit cards.
