Question

Can i change my micro sim to a nano sim without changing my number

Good morning all

I have an old Galaxy S10 which has a micro sim card. This number is used for business and pleasure. I need to change my phone, and I'm looking at a Pixel 9 Pro. This has dual sim capabilities. But its a nano sim and an eSim. My question is can I keep my current number, as its used for business, but swap the sim to a nano sim. I would then get a new personal number as an eSim. Thus giving me two contracts. One for a PAYG mobile sim and a new contract phone with a new personal number via eSim. Any help gratefully received

Hi there,

You can do this in a couple of ways:

1. If your number is with another network and you are looking to change your PAYG contract, you can request a PAC code from your old network and tell ID about this to transfer your number.

2. If you are with ID already and are retaining the same PAYG contract, you can just request a new sim card via the live chat or your nearest Curry's store. You can then activate this with your old number.

3. You can carefully cut your old sim into the smaller size with a craft knife. This is risky however, as it could go wrong.

I hope this helps.

Ryan

Hello @Chr1sgsi

Thank you for getting in touch, we would be happy to help.

Can you please confirm, is the number that you have on the micro SIM with iD Mobile?

If so, we can arrange a replacement SIM card for you.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I am currently with ID mobile on a rolling 30 day Sim only contract. I do wish to keep this deal and number but would need the Sim to be a Nano sim to fit the Pixel Pro.

If you order a replacement by post the old one will be disconnected instantly.

Follow the link here and when you speak to an advisor, they should be able to help with the transfer

You may be able to sort yourself by pushing out the required size; sim cards as issued are suitable for 3 formats. When first received they automatically fit the old full size sim card holder [not used in modern phones] , but you can push out the plastic [are pre-cut] to get down to 2 smaller formats.
