In order to access voicemail, i was forced to set up a personalised greeting. When i didn't want to.
None of the options in the voicemail settings suggest im able to change it to something generic. Why not?
How do i get rid of the personalised greeting?

Why not just record your phone number instead of your name? That isn’t giving the caller any extra information about yourself that they don’t already have.
I agree you shouldn’t have to record anything but this workaround works for me.
This is ridiculous. There are various reasons why someone wouldn't want their mailbox set up like this.
Please would someone do me a favour? I'd like to know the wording of whatever message is played to people when they get through to voicemail, so that I can decide what exactly to record for my 'name' and my message. I don't wish to give my name, so if I could get the format of what people hear I could decide what I can record in place of my name and a message such that it still makes some sense.
So, what words do iD Mobile place around our 'name' and our personal message?
(Wouldn't have to ask this if iD Mobile didn't have such a restrictive system or if they allowed the name to be altered)
IDMobile / 3Mobile, if you need a user recording of e.g. Mailbox Name you MUST allow re-recording somehow for editing. Is my reading of this all, that it’s not possible to change?? I recorded a “mailbox name” in my own voice, which was my firstname followed by “mail box”. It didn’t sound right, so went in to re-record it… guess what? “This option is not available”. So now it seems I’m stuck with an incorrect, boring voice mailbox name, which i can’t change… Suboptimal to say the least. 😑
Hey there @andyrox, you should be able to re-record if you wish. To re-record your iD Mobile voicemail greeting, dial 123 from your iD Mobile phone and follow the prompts in the automated menu to record a new personal greeting.
Try this. It’s not a perfect workaround, but here’s something that might help. I used Google Translate to generate a voicemail message like: “The person you are calling is unable to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone.” Then I played it aloud using the speaker function and recorded that instead of stating my name. The audio isn’t flawless, but it gets the point across. I’m with the others on this — I’d rather not share my name with potential scammers.
