When I text people it comes up with a different phone number. If I phone people it's ok but just when I text. I've tried turning off RCS and restarting the phone but it still does it. Can anyone help please?

Have you tried the following steps, @Mikeyrobbo

  1. Turn OFF the RCS chats (“Chat features”) option in the Google Messages app.
  2. Turn OFF the handset and carefully remove your iD SIM.
  3. Check the SIM is clean / undamaged, then carefully re-insert your iD SIM.
  4. Turn ON the handset.
  5. Turn ON RCS chats.

🤞

Hi @Mikeyrobbo

Have you tried keeping RCS off for a few days and then back on later?

@Frank304209,

Please try the below:

1) Open Messages, go to Settings (top right, Message Settings), open "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats", verify if this is the correct number or not.

2) If it shows the incorrect one, then head to: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and you should be able to unregister the number. Once done, turn off the Chat Features/RCS and the phone. Wait a few minutes and turn the device back on and re-enable Chat Features/RCS it should let you re-register/update to the correct number.

Alternatively, you can turn Chat Features/RCS off and test SMS after this.

Thanks, Kash. Turned off RCS and switched back to my original mobile number. Haven't tried turning it on again yet.
