Do I get a phone number with an e-sim?

I’ve just bought an e-sim to use in an i-phone SE but I can’t find a phone number anywhere. There’s no phone number currently with the phone so nothing to switch over. 
 

Where do I find the phone number for the e-sim? The phone is showing “iD” as the network provider, but I can’t call out. Messages to other iPhones are sent from the iCloud address, messages to androids don’t send.
