My phone was saying emergency calls only so I've got a new SIM but still saying emergency calls only and not recognising the network

It seems odd that the first SIM said emergency calls only. Have you checked for any emails from iD, more so about leaving them?
Anyway, being as you obtained a replacement SIM you need to activate it. You can do this via your app or online account portal.
Using either method → Plan → SIM & phone management → Activate a replacement SIM
(note the first 8 numbers of the SIM card number are already filled out)
If that is accepted then in less than 30 minutes your phone should start to show iD as the network.🤞
