Thanks for your interest in purchasing an eSIM with us.

The iPad won’t have it’s own mobile number unless it’s using a SIM card inside it.

If I understand correctly, your son’s iPad is already using an iD Mobile physical SIM card, but you want to move this to an eSIM, is that correct?

If so, then you simply need to get a replacement eSIM and activate this on the iPad. This will keep the same number from the iD Mobile plan, but move you from a physical SIM card to an eSIM.

If however, you want to use an eSIM in the tablet as well as use a normal SIM in your current phone (Often referred to as multi-SIM/data sharing) then this isn’t a feature we support on iD Mobile.

Each device would need their own SIM card and plan for services and you can’t share your data between 2 devices using 2 SIM cards both connected to the same plan.
