Question

eSim only works when wifi is on

Recently took out an iD mobile contract with Samsung s25 ultra. Transferred my number from 3 to iD that was 'completed' earlier today. Since removing the 3 sim from my phone I was using until today I've had no signal.

Following a chat with AI and then an agent, I requested an eSim. The eSim was received and downloaded instantly. However,  the issue is my phone will only show mobile data when connected to my home wifi. If I switch wifi off, the iD signal disappears (emergency calls only). I've tried removing and adding a newly requested esim but same issue.

Have attempted multiple 'network settings' resets to no avail.

Any help getting me 'connected' would be greatly appreciated as I only joined iD for the free roaming as we go abroad next week.

Thanks for your time and look forward to someone talking me through this.

How have you removed the eSIM from your Galaxy phone, @PeteBurrows

I removed the first eSIM I originally downloaded from my phone and requested a 2nd eSIM that is installed and active. If I turn off my Wi-Fi or WiFi calling on the phone, my signal bar disappears and has the no signal icon.

Is the iD eSIM the only SIM product in your Galaxy phone, @PeteBurrows

Is the iD eSIM set as the primary line for calls, texts, and mobile data?

Hey there @PeteBurrows, sorry to hear this. Is the current iD eSIM the only activated SIM inside/activated on the device currently?

Have you tried resetting network settings?

Thanks,

Tyler

Ended up taking my phone into a Curry's store today. The chap there spent around 2 hours trying all sorts of fixes, 2 new sim cards, a new esim, tried other network sim cards. None would work in my phone. They just wouldn't register on the network.

Ended up going home with a new handset and returning my current one to mobiles.co.uk

Hey there @PeteBurrows, sorry to hear that, but we’re glad Currys could assist further in the end.

Thanks,

Tyler
