You should be able to turn off voicemail in your iD app or “My iD Account” online, @Kevin Chamberlain

For the latter option, login to your iD account at https://my.idmobile.co.uk.

Via your iD app or online portal @Caroline LU

Click Plan, scroll down to Manage your iD services, scroll down to Voicemail, toggle this off and scroll a little bit further and click save.

The above steps should turn off Voicemail (maybe restart the phone after 15 minutes too)

Hi @Caroline LU

I’m sorry to hear this, have you tried the above from @Daz_S to use the iD Mobile app?

I tried looking at my plan but there is no mention of ID services. I did try disabling via the mobile app but my calls are still diverted to voicemail unfortunately.

Hi @top-cat

Thank you for getting in touch.

On the app, is the request to disable voicemail saved?

Can you please confirm the make/model of your handset?

Nat

Hi there @top-cat

I’ve just checked the App (FWIW it updated to version 6.6.0 a couple of days ago) and the method still works for me

So tap on Plan

Scroll down (swipe the screen up) and look for

Manage your iD services and tap on that

Look for Voicemail and toggle the option from ON (blue) to OFF (grey)

Scroll down (swipe the screen up)

Tap Save

Voila!

Its the same method via the online account portal too if your app (check for updates) doesn’t work. If your phone doesn’t meet the minimum spec the app (by now) probably wouldn’t even load.

OK I just checked again and found voicemail has been saved as disabled

I then tried to toggle this setting by enabling it but it’s now stuck in enabled mode. I appreciate the likely reason for this is that the app doesn’t directly control the setting in the switching centre and assume it needs to receive confirmation of state before it allows further changes?

If the app was showing it as disabled then I don’t understand why the calls are being diverted to your voicemail. I’ve had mine turned off since first joining iDM and my voicemail doesn’t function.

But as you’re now saying the option is stuck - if this is via the App and you’re using iOS15 it has been mentioned today that this OS will no longer work, see this:

https://community.idmobile.co.uk/articles-and-competitions-45/update-for-customers-using-the-id-mobile-app-on-ios-15-79492

The only other reason it might be stuck (assuming you’re not on iOS15 is because you’re not waiting the full 10 minutes in between toggling from on  to off (though on the Android app version of 6.5.0 or lower (its now version 6.6.0) you could toggle it on and off as many times as you liked on the bounce)

It’s been several hours now, the settings show it’s disabled:

That image appears to be in an older style (with the grey boxes) format whereas mine (on Android) has a white background. Even toggling the options to on (mine are all off) retains the white background. If you go to apps and find the iDM app, if you click on it what app version does yours show?

Anyway, being as its showing as disabled have you tried powering the phone off completely and then switching it back on again? - this might trigger the phone to stop sending calls to VM.

The only other thing is have you tried to do the same via the online account portal instead? Maybe even trying this → via the online account → toggle it on, wait 20 mins → turn it off, leave it overnight → in the morning restart the phone.

Sorry for the unfamiliar screenshot, this is because I was told the app hasn’t worked since iOS 15, so I created a local app by bookmarking the web address to my home screed, but I also use the app itself as well as the desktop version, all show voicemail is disabled but the diversion happens even after shutting my phone down.

Yep, for ‘security’ reasons they’ve phased out iOS15

And thanks for explaining.

So even though you’ve quite confidently shown you’ve turned it off yet its still on the only other suggestion is to raise this with their technical team - either wait for the staff on here - or contact them via live chat (its a typing based format)

Their Live Chat team are available 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am - 6pm Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays: www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

(I would advise after filling out the required fields you type talk to person to bypass their automated chat bot)

Ok thanks for the explanation. I’ve tried to chat on a few occasions but in the past I failed to provide the publicly available details in addition to my address and postcode and so failed the flawed 🆔 test.
