How long before a contract phone belongs to me

I took out a 24 month contract with ID Mobile in February 2024. It included a Motorola Edge 40 which I’ve decided that I don’t like and have bought a Xiaomi to replace it and use for the rest of the contract.

Can anyone tell me whether I can sell the Moto on? Does it belong to me or ID?

If it belongs to ID when will it become mine?

As long as you continue to make the monthly payment for your 24-month minimum term Motorola Edge 40 iD contract, you’re free to sell the handset whenever you like.

Another option might be to cancel the Edge 40 contract and pay the early termination fee instead, in which case the phone definitely belongs to you, @defizr

Hey there @defizr, welcome to Community!

As @andewhite has kindly suggested, you’re liable for the payments for the 24-month contract before you can technically say that you own the phone. However, you’re free to do what you like with it whilst you have it, as long as you pay the 24-month contract of as agreed when signing up to it.

Thanks,

Tyler
