New hanset, New SIM in different phone.

Could anyone help and check this please. Only 2 weeks ago I brought a SIMO contract. Transfered with a PAC code and put it in my old phone. 

I've now seen a great deal on an S24. Its ID network but a different company selling it. 

If I brought this am I right in thinking my number can't be  transfered over as you can't use a PAC from ID to ID? I run a business so have to keep my number. 

If I brought the new phone could I put my SIM in it and give the new SIM which should come with the phone to my child for his s23? And pay for 2 contracts?

I'm looking at ways around it and not sure if that works. I would hate to committ and then it go pear shaped.

Both ​@andewhite and ​@Daz_S are correct here. You aren’t able to transfer a number from one iD contract to another directly as we don’t support internal number transfers. However, you would be able to process something called a ‘triangle port’. This would involve transferring the number onto a pay as you go SIM with any other network, waiting 24-hours, obtaining another PAC code and transferring the number onto the new iD contract. The pay as you go SIM in this instance is used as a stepping stone. 

Swapping out the SIM cards would work also. For example if you wanted to keep the phone yourself and place your iD SIM card in there, and give the ‘new’ SIM card to your child, all services would work as normal as long as the phone your child is using is unlocked to any network.

Correct ​@Jellytot12, a PAC can only be used to transfer a mobile number between service providers, and not internally from one iD account to another. 

If the SIM fits, you’re free to use it in any device. 

A grey perhaps, but just to say iD Mobile terms & conditions do state their services are for personal use only.

Just to add my take on it….

 

Your new SIMO with your ‘jogging’ number in the S24

 

Sons old SIM → PAC to new SIM that came with the S24 → his ported number in his S23

 

As andewhite suggests the SIMs don’t actually care what phones they’re in as long as the phones are UK models*, not locked to a network* and don’t run on custom service providers software*, so it should all work as you want.

 

*mainly relates to used phones

 

I spotted your typo. When you wrote “I run a business” you meant to put “I run (jog) TO a business”, hence my calling yours your jogging SIM 😉. It’s easy done when you’re mind is on a shiny new toy!

 

Also just be mindful regarding the S24, there are reports around these forums and the wider www of these phones failing, which appears to be related to using an eSIM, so I would suggest to keeping it to one physical SIM.

(I know 2 things Santa is bringing, one pair of running trainers and an S24)

 

Any issues when both phones and SIMs are up and running (or jogging) pop back and we’ll go from there👍
