Not receiving OTP SMS from Italian identity provider (PosteID) – using eSIM

Hello,

I can’t receive one-time-passcode (OTP) SMS from an Italian identity provider called PosteID, which is used to log in securely to public services in Italy.

I’ve tested other similar Italian services / identity providers and received their SMS without any issue, so it seems specific to certain senders.

I contacted live chat support and was advised to increase my bill cap and reset my network settings. I followed both steps, but the issue hasn’t been resolved. I have also double checked that the number in my iPhone 17 is correct, and that it matches what PosteID has on their system.

For context, I’m now using an eSIM with my iD Mobile number (+44 7…). I can receive normal SMS messages from the UK and from other countries, so the problem appears to affect only some messages from this provider in Italy.

It seems possible that some international OTPs, perhaps those sent from shortcodes, are being blocked at network level.

Does anyone have any suggestions? From what I’ve seen on the forum, quite a few people seem to be affected by this.
