I keep getting calls from people saying they are returning my call. The issue is I have not been calling them. It seems my number is showing up on their caller ID. But its not me, calling. Searching on the internet it seems it is called spoofing, I have tried reporting it to action fraud, but online there seems to be no way to report it after trying a number of options. So I have given up with that route. The other option is to contact your provider.
I can use my phone and receive calls as normal. It just seems somehow someone is masking their number on caller ID by using my number. What can I do?

Thanks for the reply, I have already taken to blocking those numbers. That do call but it's still happening different people and genuine businesses calling saying I've called them.
I've held this number for over 18 year and never had this issue prior to switching to ID mobile.
Maybe your tech team should investigate and resolve the issues. I don't believe the problem lies with us customers but internal problems with the service.
It doesn’t matter what you believe, the issue isn’t specific to the UK. It doesn’t lie with you or the network, and nobody can stop someone from using your CLI. All you need is an internationally hosted VoIP trunk and a softphone application, and you’re good to go. This problem has been going on for years!
Hey there @maui-dog, sorry to hear that. These are scam/spam calls, where people pretend you called them, and is indeed spoofing as you’ve mentioned.
All we can advise is to ignore these calls/texts, and block the numbers if they’re not showing a no caller ID. The only other option would be a number change, which costs £25.00 if you wished to go down that route.
Other than that, all we can really advise is to not answer these calls or give them any information, and to ignore/block them I’m afraid, as we have no control over these.
As above, this month I’ve had two people call me back saying I called them and had to explain I hadn’t and that it was probably someone using my number in Spoofing scam.
Although what has been said so far is irrelevant since it is my number which is being used to spoof others and with such a rubbish phone system and rubbish companies running it there seems little being done to stop others actually using spoofed numbers.
Ever since I switched over to ID mobile I've had numerous amount of calls from people and businesses saying I've called them and they're calling me back. One company was a florists in stoke. I've had one elderly woman call me a few times and I've tried explaining it's not me calling and had her husband shout abuse at me down the phone.
I’m really sorry to hear you’re receiving unwanted calls or texts, I understand how frustrating and concerning that can be. If the numbers are visible, we recommend blocking them directly on your device.
If they’re showing as No Caller ID, unfortunately, there’s no way to block them individually. In cases like this, the only other option would be to request a number change, which comes with a £25 fee. If you’re continuing to receive nuisance or suspicious calls, you can also report them to Ofcom, who monitor and investigate these types of issues: www.ofcom.org.uk
We’re here to help, so please let us know if you’d like to go ahead with a number change or need further support.

This has been happening a lot to me over the last couple of weeks. I've had people saying i've called them and i've also called back missed calls only to have them deny calling me, both types have not been made from my phone or their phone.
Blocking their number is the only option and I tell callers to block me.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re really sorry to hear about the issues you’ve been experiencing with calls appearing to come from or go to numbers you haven’t contacted. We understand how confusing this can be.
It sounds like your best temporary solution has been blocking affected numbers, and we appreciate you taking steps to manage it.
If you do require any further assistance, please drop us a message and we would be more than happy to assist.
Nothing can be done except change your phone number and I doubt anyone wants to do that. I'm guessing that the networks can't fix it either from what i've been reading.
Out of interest, iD mobile so presumably 3 Mobile network know about this annoying issue but is it an issue on all networks? Is anything actually being done to try and fix it? Or is this a permanent tool of the hackers and scammers?
Number spoofing is something that all mobile networks around the world experience from time to time, not just in the UK. It can affect customers on many networks, including those that operate on the Three UK network used by iD Mobile.
This happens when someone uses software to make a call appear as though it’s coming from a different number than the one actually being used. In most cases, the number shown is simply chosen at random, which means it can sometimes appear as though it’s coming from a normal UK mobile number. Importantly, this doesn’t mean your account or phone has been hacked.
Mobile networks and regulators are aware of the issue and are actively working to reduce these types of calls. In the UK, organisations such as Ofcom work closely with networks to improve call filtering and block suspicious traffic wherever possible. Networks also continue to introduce better spam detection and call protection tools to help limit these calls.
While scam calls can still happen occasionally, the industry is continuously improving the systems used to identify and block them, and most customers never experience any impact beyond receiving an unwanted call.
If you ever receive a call that seems suspicious, the best approach is simply not to share any personal information and to end the call.
It's now escalated to at least one "call back" every day now by people claiming they missed a call from me.
I'm trying to explain to them about number spoofing and ask them to block my number. Others tell me I'm lying and give me a load of abuse.I'll be very glad when it all stops.
We’re really sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this, we understand how frustrating it must be to receive daily call-backs and even abuse from people who believe you contacted them. Unfortunately, this can sometimes happen due to number spoofing, where your number is used by scammers without your permission.
One option you may want to consider is requesting a number change on your account. Please note that this service does come with a £25 fee.
