Sim is now activated after nearly two weeks of trying but can make calls

I had to wait nearly 2 weeks for my sim to be activated after it being passed on the the technical team. I have got service shown on it but can't make calls, texts do work. It says service does not allow access to this number. It will not give me 4 or 5g data either, only H+ even though we have full 5g signal on other ID Sims.

Hi @Pierre36000

The "H+" symbol instead of "4G" indicates that your device is connected to a 3G network, specifically HSPA+ (High-Speed Packet Access Plus), which is a faster version of 3G. You need to be able to connect to the LTE/VoLTE network to be able to make/receive calls.

What phone do you have?
This will help other Community members know if they have the knowledge to help you further.

Hi the phone is a Huawei p30 pro  which I am using temporarily, but it will not work in other family members  phones either  I tried it in my opppo Reno 8 pro and the LTE/Volte at the top of the screen disappeared when I tried the SIM causing the problems. We have other ID mobile Sims that work and have no issues with signal etc. It looks like this sim is not connecting to the LTE/ Volte network.

Hi @Pierre36000
As both of the phones mentioned are on the Approved Handset list then it should work.

The first thing I suggest trying is requesting a replacement SIM as this could be the problem.
Please be aware that your account will be put on hold (you will be unable to use that number) until the new SIM has been activated.

There are a few different ways to get a replacement SIM. Here’s everything you need to know:

How do I get a replacement SIM?

If your SIM card doesn't fit your phone, or it's been lost or stolen, you’ll need a replacement. To get a replacement SIM card, you can:

  • Visit any Currys store.

Find your nearest store and head to the ‘Mobile’ section. One of our helpful Tech Experts will issue you a replacement SIM card.

  • Chat to us.

Our Live Chat team are able to issue you a replacement SIM card, which will be sent in the post to the account holder’s address.

Once you receive your replacement SIM card, you’ll need to activate it. Check out the steps in the article below:

Good Luck x

Hey there @Pierre36000, sorry to hear that.

We would also recommend trying a replacement SIM card, so please follow the instructions kindly advised by @Decembersangel72 above, and let us know if any issues.

Thanks,

Tyler
