SMS lost or delivered while SIM card removed and number ported?

Could someone tell me if the SMS will be delivered or lost in the following scenario please?

 

  1. SIM card for number 07123456789 removed from phone
  2. SMS sent to number 07123456789
  3. 07123456789 ported to a new provider on a new SIM
  4. New SIM for number 07123456789 entered into phone and phone turned on

I believe they should be retried ​@arcall  but it may be worth asking for people to contact you by Whats App while the port is going through, just in case.

    Hi ​@arcall  I think it would depend if the text was sent before or after the port. The text may be lost as is only held by the servers for so long.

    Is there a text that you are missing?

    Hi ​@Siân , No, but the old SIM isn’t in the phone and I won’t be able to put it in before the porting completes. I’m just wondering if any messages which come in before then and now will be lost or not. 

    I suppose the question is, are SMS messages your servers are attempting to deliver lost when the number is ported?
