Unable to answer private number

So, have a Pixel 7, fully updated. I receive calls from private numbers (for hospital appointment) however the calls aren't ringing through and are blocked by the phone.

I have tried toggling on and off the block numbers in the phone settings, but that's not changed anything.

I have also cleared the cache and data from play services and still no change

Does anyone have any other ideas?

A simple way to find out if it’s your device or the network is to pop your phone into another phone and see if the problem remains. For what it’s worth, there is no option to block such calls via iD Mobile. So there is little iD Mobile can do at their end to resolve this issue. You even stated in a post above that this issue only appeared after updating your phone’s software. Have you told Google this?

@VWT3  Sorry to here that you having issues but had you  these numbers coming through fine before the phones update?

If I know Google more so the Pixel range they may have a spam, scam feature setup and these said calls may be picked up the the build in scam filter.

And some business number's hospital included don't always have their number display (withheld number) when they call.

Thanks for the reply, I think since any update the private/withheld numbers no longer get through.

When I first got the Pixel 7, these numbers would get through.

It's just trying to find the settings to change this

To unblock calls from unknown contacts on a Google Pixel, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Phone app on your Google Pixel.

  2. Tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner to open the Settings menu.

  3. Navigate to "Blocked numbers" and deactivate the "Unknown" option to block all calls from numbers not saved in your contacts list.

Alternatively, you can check the built-in call screening feature, which is available in the Phone app settings under "Spam and Call Screen" and "Call Screen".

Points 1-3 I have tried, but made no difference and calls still blocked or bouncing so unable to answer or see that the calls have come through.

I will check the built in call screening

Hi @VWT3

It’d be strange for withheld numbers to be blocked, have you spoke to Google directly to see if they have any guidance?

Then you must have some other app installed that’s blocking these types of calls or an entry in your blocklist.

Maybe try asking over on the Google Pixel community forums?

No app that's blocking as went into safe mode and all good and no entry on the blocked list.

Tried swapping my SIM to another phone and all good.

So I think that's something wrong with my Pixel then!

Oh well and thanks all for the advice.

Upgrade time is nearly here, so thinking I might do that instead.

Maybe, as a last resort, try performing a factory reset?

I'm having the same problem as @VWT3, so thought it better to post here than start a new thread. I'm using a Pixel 5, my old phone died abruptly and a friend gave me his spare. It's old but he did a full factory reset, all updates are installed and the only extra app I've installed is WhatsApp. No problems for six months, but about a month ago I started to get told by people trying to make appointments that they had tried calling me but it wouldn't connect. I never have a problem with incoming calls from numbers in my contacts. I have gone through the call blocking settings as suggested in the replies, no call blocking was active. Like @VWT3 , I think it might be time for a new phone.

Hi @JetIM

Thank you for getting in touch.

We are sorry to hear you are also having issues.

Have you also completed a reset on the handset since the issues began?

Thanks,

Natalie
