Have got 2 ID mobile accounts one works ok the other won’t connect to the internet or WiFi! Can anyone advise on this?

Hey there @Mark Antony Wood, welcome to Community!

We’re sorry to hear that. To confirm, is the issue that the phone won’t connect to Wi-Fi, or is the issue with data on your phone that you receive from us?

Have you tried restarting your phone and network settings also?

Thank you,

Tyler

Hello @Valpippa

Thanks for getting in touch.

We are sorry to hear you are having issues connecting the iPad and Samsung phone to the WiFi.

Are they both from us and using iD Mobile SIM’s?

What happens when you attempt to connect? Are any other devices having an issue?

Nat

If they both previously connected fine to your routers WiFi then what can happen on some routers is that the router itself retains multiples of the same device (it caches the device and doesn’t delete the previous IP address allocations).

So you could turn the router off for a few minutes and then switch it back on. If the router is working all previous devices should then automatically connect.

The reason the TV and Computer still work is likely as they never left the range of the routers WiFi.

Okay, so I did a quick google search for 4G CPE 2897 without much joy.

Is your router a 3G/4G/5G SIM based router or does it have a copper/fibre physical connection?

If its 3G/4G/5G is it possible that 3G has been turned off and you need to reconfigure your router. This shouldn’t have caused the devices to not connect though, unless I’m overlooking something

So what you could try is to eject the SIM card from just your phone for now, switch it off and back on again, allow it to boot fully (ignoring any no network error). Then see if the WiFi on the phone reconnects to the router. If it does* then insert the SIM card and see if the WiFi connection is maintained.

*this then also sounds like an unusual iD SIM glitch or IP address mismatch. As an example BT routers don’t permit IP addresses in the 10.xx.xx.xx range and I’ve noticed iD sometimes allocate addresses in that range.

If it still doesn’t reconnect without a SIM in your phone then its either a phone issue (although I really doubt this) or a router issue (more likely imho). If you have no user changed alterations to any settings on the router then maybe pressing and holding the reset button on the router itself might be worth considering - though if the router is acting up it may no re-establish a connection and if you gave your wifi a name you’d need to set this up again.

The other thing is if the phone and iPad are set to 5G only and for reasons I can’t explain the router can’t talk to the devices

Certainly an interesting one is this...

Hi @Valpippa

Okay, it may be worth speaking directly to the device manufacturer or your Wi-Fi provider for support on Wi-Fi.
