upgrading sim only contract contract contract

I have a sim only contract with idmobile. I want to upgrade this to get more data.

On the upgrade page I am told

“Your SIM only order will be delivered by Royal Mail 2nd Class. This usually takes 2-3 working days to arrive “

and also 

“Keep your current SIM after upgrading “

so do I have to get a new sim to upgrade? I was hoping the upgrade could be done using the same sim

I’m really sorry to hear about the confusion with your upgrade. You can absolutely keep the same SIM when upgrading. If you’d like a hand to make sure the process goes smoothly, our sales team will be happy to help. You can reach them via live chat or call 0800 049 0250.

 

You can also follow the below steps to upgrade to SIM only:

 

1. From dashboard, scroll down and tap on "view all upgrade deals".  
2. On the next page, select the box "SIM only deals".  
3. Scroll down and tap on "choose this plan" next to the plan you wish to proceed with.  
4. On the next page, tap on "continue" and follow the steps to complete the order. A card verification will be required. After completing this step, tap on "place order".  
5. You will receive an order reference number at the end.
