using old phone with same number

Hi I’ve just upgraded my phone. I use my current phone for business and would like to keep it to use with the same phone number. 
my new phone I assume will have a new number. Do I just purchase a sim only for my old phone to keep my old number? Would I need a new sim for my new phone?

im so confused 🫤

Welcome to the Community!

If you upgrade your contract you would keep the same number.

If you purchase a new contract with iD Mobile you would receive a new number.

Unfortunately you can’t port a number from an old iD number to a new one.
