wifi calling has stopped working

My WiFi calling has stopped working. It’s fine for my partner on another network. I have no signal at home so it’s not that. Switched router and phone on and off. Toggled the wifi button. What else can I try?

Best answer by WelshPaul

Update your carrier profile and reboot your phone.

Settings > General > About

You might need to turn on airplane mode for a minute if rebooting your phone doesn’t work.

Updating carrier profile on iPhone via: settings - general - about was a great bit of advice.  Thank you

Hi @Gemma1980

Have you tried resetting your network settings?

If you have an iPhone, please could you go to ‘settings’, ‘phone’ (under iOS 18 its under ‘Apps’, ‘phone’) ‘My Number’ and check if the mobile number space is blank. If so, please

could you update the number?

Anika

Thanks Annika

This fault was a rare one and the fix was:

Updating carrier profile on iPhone via: Settings - General - About

The option comes up in a prompt: Network Provider Settings Update

Click the update button and its fixed!

I have the same problem. No Wifi calling (I have very poor signal at home and work so rely on this to contact clients.
I have iPhone 15 bought through ID mobile only 3-4months ago and been appalled at the quality of service and continual issues.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve checked the updates and versions.

There are:- iOS 18.5

network:- 64.2

I don’t have any ‘pop- up’ to say update so assuming it’s all up to speed…

any ideas?
thanks

If you have a poor signal then get to an area with at least one or two bars then you can update the carrier profile on iPhone via: Settings - General - About

Make sure your VPNs are off and in the Physical SIM section it’s 64.2 network provider the network category should say: ID WiFi calling

VPNs are off / not connected.

it is updated to 64.2…or is there a newer update?

network is 64.2 and phone says ID WiFi calling

I have 2 bars and nothing updating or working.

if WiFi calling is not working on my Work place WiFi or home WiFi (different locations) then there is either an issue with ID network or apple update….either way again I’m left with a service that’s not working?

The settings all look good.  Do you have another phone in the house with WiFi calling so that we eliminate your home network as the issue?

Other option is reset your network settings

On your iPhone, go to ‘settings’, ‘mobile service’  ‘My Number’ and check if the mobile number space is blank. If so, update the number and check network selection says ‘ID WiFi call’ and WiFi calling is set to ‘on’

Yes it works fine with my kids and wife’s phone on different networks. The WiFi works on every other device in the home.i can use WhatsApp call through the WiFi just not my actual ID service.

my number is correct and WiFi calling on.

i did a reboot, airplane mode & network reset and nothing changes…

It’s also now showing an account error on my email servers from my phone - but cannot connect to each server, though it does eventually sync mail after a while (while still showing error)….not sure if related but seems to me that the Apple and Carrier update have a compatibility issue with ID mobile?
I have had nothing but issues with ID since using them only a few months. There is a fundamental problem with their service…

Turn on airplane mode for a minute, and WiFi calling should kick in. I had to do this after updating my carrier profile to 64.2.

It doesn’t work I’m afraid. This is what it comes up with all settings correct and WiFi calling on /airplane mode on (as you can see from pics)

I’m not surprised it didn’t work for you, you are not connected to any WiFi network. You obviously have to have a WiFi connection for WiFi calling to work.

But I have WiFi on when not in airplane mode….why do I have to disengage the the service and toggle WiFi back on?? Surely when no signal available it will revert to WiFi calling?….as any other network.

this might be temp solution…but it’s not a convenient solution…. My previous network worked 100%…ID mobile service is riddled with issues.

Do you want to fix your issue or just rant? You only need to do this step once! It worked for me and others after updating to carrier profile 64.2. After updating, WiFi calling still wouldn’t work, but following the step above somehow kicked it back into operation and has worked as normal ever since (for me and others).

FYI - It’s Apple that broke WiFi calling with the release of carrier profile 64.1. Not only was iD affected by this, but EE and THREE, including every MVNO that uses them.

Is it an Apple or Carrier issue that prevents the phone working properly?
when in normal mode everything is correct but no WiFi calling….so there is still a problem and I’m still having the email syncing issue?

Do you work for ID? Thank you. The fact you are the first person to advise it’s an Apple issue…then it might have been easier to understand….however it’s still not working as it should…only when I toggle into airplane mode….so it’s not kicked anything back into operation for me.
it’s not really a rant if you are not getting  the service you pay for and ID not advising of any outside network issues…this community resolution is basically a diy forum…seems a bit lacking to be honest.

rant over.

Hi @Oneminimalman  sorry for the trouble you have had with your Wi-Fi calling. There was an issue affecting Apple customers recently, but this should all be resolved now.

If the steps shared by @WelshPaul  haven’t worked, it may be best for us to have a check of your handset in a Currys store.

How is it working now? Are you still facing the same issue?

While we do monitor this community, it is for our customers to share and assist each other. We do reply to comments and posts, but it isn’t always instant I’m afraid.

Your phone is currently using WiFi calling in “normal mode”. As you can see in the screenshot you posted, you have two bars of service, a strong WiFi connection, and WiFi calling is active.

Hi Sian,

Yes i’m still having problems with the phone. I have gone through steps that @WelshPaul & @TommyM suggested and unfortunately it is still not working as it should.

  • No wifi calling - (only if put in airplane mode) - In normal service mode ID WIFI Calling shows it is activated but will not connect the call - if it does connect, signal is inaudible.
  • WhatsApp calls over wifi works fine
  • Signal Calling (when available and strength is there) will work but quality not great (due to location more than likely)

All email accounts on iphone showing errors but cannot connect to servers - yet will sync an hour or so later…..not sure if this is related or not to the update?

I live quite remote, hence the issue, so nearest Currys about an hour away…but i will go if needed.

Are Apple addressing this issue.. are their plans for an update?

Hi Sian,

I thought i had responded to your message.

I have carried out all the steps @WelshPaul and @TommyM suggested and it is still having problems or not working as it should.

  • Wifi Calling (normal mode) - not connecting calls - if/when it does connect the service is inaudible, so have to revert to other form of contact.
  • Wifi working in airplane mode - but connection still not great.
  • WhatsApp Wifi calls work fine
  • Network calls fine whens signal available - albeit weak due to location (hence the wifi calling)

I have already had replacement SIM due to previous Service issue - phone is brand new and works in every other aspect.

Have Apple given a timeline on any update resolve on this?

Hang on, so your issue isn’t that WiFi calling isn’t working, it’s a call quality issue when using WiFi calling?

@WelshPaul It doesn’t connect 90% of the time. When it has connected, the connection is inaudible for the caller/receiver.

All i can say is its not working as it should or has previously, on both other networks i’ve used….but none of the steps advised have made any difference to this and i’ve wasted rather a lot of time on this forum rather than being able to speak to a representative or employee of ID mobile to resolve this any quicker.
