Some customers will also not be able to process/request their porting/switching information via SMS (text message) and some landline calls may be disrupted on not connect due to the ongoing voice degradation. We’re making some important and essential system upgrades this weekend to improve our service for all our customers.As a result of these improvements, certain iD Mobile services won’t be available between 10pm Saturday 17th July and 8am Sunday 18th July.The following services will be affected while we’re carrying out these vital upgrades: Switching Services: Our switching services will be temporarily unavailable. During this time, you’ll be unable to submit your switching information to iD (using a PAC or STAC) from your old network, or request your switching information from us (PAC, STAC or INFO) to switch to another network.If you’re planning on switching this weekend, please request your PAC, STAC or INFO either before or after these times. And if you’re switching to iD Mobile this weekend, your information will be processed on Monday morning and the switch will be completed on Tuesday between 8am and 10pm. Emergency SOS System: Government Trial - Reading AreaThe Government is planning on running their second test of their new cell broadcasting technology which will be taking place in Reading on Tuesday 29th June 2021.The UK government’s new Emergency Alerts system will enable people to be contacted via their mobile phone when lives are in danger. It will be used to warn you in emergencies such as severe flooding or terror attacks. Emergency Alerts are sent to all compatible mobile phones within an area of risk. They don’t track your location, need your phone number, or collect personal data. Only the government and the emergency services will be able to send them. If you don’t have a mobile phone, you’ll still be kept informed through other channels. If you get an Emergency Alert on your phone, you’ll hear a loud, siren-like sound. In the meantime, what’s changed on the iD Community recently? Check the Archives:You might notice we’ve had a bit of a Spring clean on the iD Community over the past month. We’re on a constant quest to make the Community easier for you to use, navigate and enjoy. That means finding the relevant help you need, faster. On the dropdown menu at the top of the page, you’ll see ‘Community Archive’ underneath My iD. That’s where we’ll be placing older posts, inactive posts and resolved queries. These are filtered from the results when you use the search bar, so you can find a topic quickly without needing to scroll too much.
Advice for our Customers: Customers affected – Android UsersWhat we have identified – We’ve been made aware that a number of our customers may have been targeted with SMS messages that have been made to look like they were sent from delivery services such as DHL, Amazon and Argos (although there may be others).These messages instruct the recipient to download a file to enable tracking of a fictitious package. If this link is clicked on an Android device, an attempt to download malicious software (Malware) will occur. If this malware is permitted to download and install, it could gain permissions on your phone to intercept and send SMS messages, while also attempting to capture any online banking details stored on your device. Users of iOS devices (iPhone & iPad) are unaffected by any attempt to download the above-mentioned file from the SMS message.
