Before we tell you about our new Roam Beyond add-ons, here’s a quick reminder of what our existing Roam Free feature is all about. With Roam Free, you can use your UK monthly allowances of minutes, texts, and data (up to 30GB!) in 50 destinations. From sipping espresso in Italy to surfing in Spain, your phone will work just as it does at home - at no extra cost.

Ready to explore? Roam Free is perfect for anyone staying within our list of included countries.

What if you want to travel further?

We get it. Not all adventures are confined to our 50 Roam Free destinations. Perhaps you are dreaming of safaris in South Africa, road trips in the USA, or even relaxing in exotic Morocco. We’ve listened to your feedback and have introduced Roam Beyond add-ons - offering you data roaming in 10 new destinations.

Roam Beyond add-ons: stay connected in even more places.

Roam Beyond add-ons are designed for those exploring destinations like the USA, India, Australia, and beyond. While they’re data-only (no calls or texts), you can still stay in touch using apps like iMessage, WhatsApp, FaceTime, and Messenger. Here’s the rundown of our Roam Beyond add-on options:

Duration Data Price
1 Day 2GB £5
5 Days 10GB £20
10 Days 20GB £35

These add-ons are available in ten popular destinations: USA, India, Morocco, South Africa, New Zealand, Turkey, Mexico, Australia, Hong Kong, and Switzerland.

How to purchase a Roam Beyond add-on.

Purchasing a Roam Beyond add-on is quick and simple, simply check out the steps in the article below. The cost of the add-on will be added to your next billing cycle. It’s that easy!

FAQs.

When does my Roam Beyond add-on start?

Your Roam Beyond add-on starts immediately after purchase. To avoid unexpected charges at your destination, we recommend buying it while still in the UK. Alternatively, you can turn roaming off, connect to a secure local Wi-Fi once you arrive, and purchase your add-on then.

How long does my Roam Beyond add-on last?

Roam Beyond add-ons last for 1 day5 days, or 10 days, starting from the time of purchase. You can check your app dashboard or online account to see when it expires.

Can I buy a recurring Roam Beyond add-on?

We don’t offer recurring Roam Beyond add-ons. You’ll need to buy a new one if you’re current one expires, but don’t worry – we’ve made it quick and easy for you to do this. See ‘How to purchase a Roam Beyond add-on’ above.

Can I cancel a Roam Beyond add-on?

Roam Beyond add-ons can’t be cancelled. They naturally expire after their duration.

Will my Bill Cap affect my Roam Beyond add-on?

Nope! Roam Beyond add-ons are separate from your Bill Cap. If you have a £3 Bill Cap and buy a £5 Roam Beyond add-on, your Bill Cap will remain untouched.

Do Roam Beyond add-ons carry over after a plan change or upgrade?

Yes. Your Roam Beyond add-on will stay on your account even if you switch plans.

I’ve gone over my allowance—can I use an add-on to cover it?

Not retroactively, but buying an add-on immediately helps you avoid higher out-of-bundle charges for future usage.

Can I use my add-ons abroad?

Yes. UK Add-ons work in Roam Free destinations up to 30GB. Roam Beyond add-ons work in selected destinations outside the Roam Free zone.

Ready to Explore?

Whether you’re sticking to Roam Free countries or heading further afield, staying connected with iD Mobile has never been easier or more affordable. With Roam Beyond add-ons, your adventures will be powered by reliable data wherever you go.

These prices are way too expensive. With esims now easy and cheap, you can roam anywhere in the world for a fraction of these prices, if these SIM only companies can do such good prices you would think a mobile phone supplier and operator could beat or at least match these prices. I would love to be able to use my ID sim abroad, but it’s just way TOOO MUCH. Esims are so easy and convenient and offer MEGA SPEEDS at a fraction of these prices.

Hey @MYLO! Thank you for the feedback on our Roam Beyond Add-Ons - I’ve shared this with the team.

As you can imagine, we conducted extensive market research, comparing not only eSIM providers but also the Roaming Add-Ons offered by other UK networks, to establish pricing that delivers great value to our customers. While a separate eSIM is a great option, they’re not supported by all devices, and some customers prefer the simplicity of using their phone abroad just as they would at home – hassle-free.

To clarify, there are no speed restrictions when using your phone abroad with our Add-Ons. Thanks!

I got really excited as I am travelling to Morocco next month, but wow the prices aren't great, maybe for the 1 day deal is brilliant but e-sim are convenient with at least half the price for the 5 days! Especially nowadays most phones support that. still great to see a bit of creativity for the network users.

What are the chances of ID adding calls to the Roam Beyond in the near future? Planning on going to the USA in about 15 months and will need data and calls for some of the activities planned (proper calls, not WhatsApp or similar). Without calls I'll have to look into the eSim route instead.

I’ve had a cheap sim only deal with Three for about 12 years and get roaming in all these countries:

Aland Islands            Australia
Austria                Azores
Balearic Islands            Bali - Indonesia
Belgium            Brazil
Bulgaria            Canary Islands
Channel Islands            Chile
Colombia            Corsica - France
Costa Rica            Crete - Greece
Croatia                Cyprus
Czech Republic            Denmark
El Salvador            Estonia
Finland                Florida Keys - USA
France (Inc.Corsica, Mayotte, Reunion)
French Guiana            French West Indies
Fuertaventura            Germany
Gibraltar            Greece (Inc. Crete & Rhodes)
Guadeloupe            Guatemala
Guernsey            Hawaii
Hong Kong            Hungary
Iceland                Indonesia
Isle of Man            Israel
Italy (Inc. Sardinia & Sicily)    Jersey
Latvia                Liechtenstein
Lithuania            Luxembourg
Macau                Madeira
Malta                Martinique
Mayotte                New Zealand
Nicaragua            Norway
Panama            Peru
Poland                Portugal
Puerto Rico            Republic of Ireland
Reunion            Rhodes - Greece
Romania            Saint Barthelemy
Saint Martin            San Marino
Sardinia - Italy            Sicily - Italy
Singapore            Slovakia
Slovenia            Spain
Sri Lanka            Sweden
Switzerland            The Netherlands
United States of America    Uruguay
US Virgin Islands        Vatican City        Vietnam

A small ammount of data, but unlimited calls and texts.   So how can Id claim to be the best roam-free operator?

I totally agree,  too expensive, I think the line about extensive market research is  just “lip service”

if you had of done any research you would not be having this

kind of response  now!

Nice idea but I'll keep buying a local SIM until the prices come down. This is similar to the offer of other UK operators but doesn't take into account the cost of local data.

It's expensive (surely market research would show this!) and random amount days because most people go away for 7 or 14 days but you're offering 5 or 10 days 🥴🥴 1, 3, 7, 14 would be better, moreso if you're keeping these prices.... 35 for 14 days is much more appealing, 20 for 7 days.... I'd say a little cheaper than those numbers but can't see ID dropping them .....

eSIM is the way to go, 10GB for 5 days at £20 is not even close to competitive.

Ridiculous pricing, really especially when taking into account availability of E-Sims, ease of install and prices from those providers.

Where a phone doesn't have E-Sim capability there is always the local option.

I'm currently in India. I bought a low cost minimal data esim to tide me over until I got Mysore then went out and bought a local SIM (airtel) for 2gb per day and unlimited calls locally for less than £7 for 28 days.

56GB of data over 28 days for £7 versus 20gb for £35 lasting just 10 days, 4 days less than typical holiday abroad.

All you need is your passport and 20 minutes to get local SIM card in India.

Really dire value for money offering and kind of shows the extensive market research was neither extensive nor accurate given comments on here. They've simply matched to other UK providers who are also ripping their customers off.

Morning @Louise Ward! Thanks for the feedback regarding the different durations of Add-ons we offer. I’ve shared this with the team. Fun fact: The average length of a holiday abroad is 9 days, so our 10 day Add-on would accommodate this!

I'm not sure these were the responses they were hoping for 😂😂😂

Since Id Mobile runs on the Three network, why not cover the destinations that they can? Your prices for roaming those places are rather high I think. At the moment buying a Three PAYG is better value and covers more places.

Agreed - this is far too expensive.  My usual go to eSIM provider does a 7 day validity 2GB SIM for £7, or a 30 day 10GB SIM for £20.  The validity just isn’t long enough.

Also, surely you can get a better deal for Switzerland?  It was enough of a surprise discovering that wasn’t included in your list of 50 countries, when pretty much the entire continent is covered...

Thanks for the feedback @Jaxxy56. We’re proud to be a market leader when it comes to Roaming, allowing customers to Roam In more destinations than any other network across all plans, up to 30GB. However, I’ve passed on your comments regarding our Roam Beyond Add-ons to the relevant teams.

Hey @Shaun Penton. As an MVNO, our Roaming agreements are set by Three UK, who power our network. Our Roam Beyond Add-ons to be the best value possible, while enabling customers to use the same SIM as they would at home - hassle-free. Thanks.

I’m very disappointed with Roam Beyond given how good Roam Free is (the main reason for my contract with ID). 😔

Other than people that can’t use eSims on their phones (and can’t be bothered to swap sims!😝) the “Roam Beyond” plans are simply put a bad deal. First thing first, who travels from the UK to the USA or all the way to Australia, for 1 day? 🤣

All this does is causes excessive fees when your day plan runs out when you inevitably forget to enable it.

At minimum a 5 day plan should be the entry point, ideally 7. You can get 1GB for 7 days £3.50, 3GB for 15 days for £8.50 on eSim/travel sim providers easily for American/Asian Countries, which is way more useful!

I honestly didn’t expect iD prices to match the eSim prices but didn’t expect this discrepancy...

A unlimited data plan for 15 days at ~£25 or 30 days for ~£50 would also have been useful.

More countries are definitely needed. Canada and Japan would be my top priority… as a matter of fact most travel esim/sim providers offer North america (Canada/USA/Mexico) and Asia Pacific (Including Japan, China, South Corea, New Zealand, Australia, etc..) for cheaper than what this addon provides.

These prices are laughable
