Free music / shows on the streets in Florence.  Opera music featuring Puccini just bring a chair. Amazing family atmosphere in a beautiful setting. All for free and all over Florence

The best hidden gem I found was The Capuchin Crypt in Rome.  A hidden church in Rome, that contains remains of the Capuchin monks and they are re-arranged to form art,  not only a super interesting place in how the monks ended up there, it’s also a quiet and very cool (temperature) and escape from the heat, hustle and bustle of Rome.

Holidaying with my kids now they have turned 18, what a gem! Gone have the days of eating boring food, sitting on a beach getting sand where is shouldn’t be, carrying every type of inflatable all the way from the hotel to the beach only for them to not use it.  We now chill in bars getting tipsy, trying new foods including sea food, and I can leave them to it when I get too tired and need to go to bed. Currently in Poland, absolutely stunning!!

It was a little cafe in Florence just out of the tourist run that served the best fresh pasta, and was full of locals. You know it’s going to be good if the locals eat there, and half the price of the hotspots!!!

My hack is to get the vacuum sealable bags to pack in your suitcase so you can do as much shopping as you want and still have room on the return trip

Im going to be greedy and give 2 hidden gems; its only a short swim between the two.

Just outside Brixham there are 2 coves hidden away down a wooded valley; Fishcombe Cove and Churston Cove. On a hot sunny day you could be on a Greek Island, basking in the sun with a long, cold beer; close your eyes and dream the day away.

My best hidden gem was a little restaurant we stumbled across completely by chance while driving through the mountains in Macedonia. We hadn’t planned to stop there at all, but it was tucked away among the trees with beautiful mountain views, so we decided to give it a try. They brought the meat to our table and cooked it on a hot stone right in front of us. Such a simple, unexpected stop, but it became one of my favourite memories from the whole trip.

What’s the best hidden gem you’ve ever discovered on holiday?

Holidaying in Jamaica (Ocho Rios aka 8 rivers), we stumbled upon a waterfall lagoon area named Blue Hole... Epic experience!

We paid a local guy to take us trekking through the vegetation for around 20 minutes, scrabbling up rocks, across streams and along muddy paths, wondering where on earth we would end up... Then we opened into a clearing where a lady was grilling meats over a barbecue, there was a waterfall and a cliff jump set up - magical!

We spent the best afternoon ever, jumping, swimming and eating, with the Caribbean vibes and reggae music playing. Heavenly!

A small secluded beach just off the beaten track that very few venture too. You could be on an island somewhere with no one else around.

Montelbano, Sicily. Was trying to find my accommodation for the night. PratNav took me through ridiculously narrow medieval lanes and I punctured a tyre. The accommodation cancelled on me so I had to sleep in the car. Not a problem, my old ScoobyDo is very comfortable. Parked up and went to see if I could find something to eat. Wasn’t much going on but there was a little cafe open and I ate there. The lovely Icelandic (would you believe) waitress who was there to improve her Italian (English was impeccable) told me that next door was a little garage and was certain the chap would help. She also said that I was quite lucky because she was the only person in the town who spoke English!

The following morning after a good night’s sleep I ventured to this little garage. Managed to communicate with my limited German (his wife was German) and a translator app but ultimately I got 2 very good part worn tyres fitted for €90 and was on my way again mid morning!! Brilliant! Thank you guys.

My favorite secret destination is a local one. You don't have to travel far to find some amazing places to discover. Just a short drive through the Mendip hills in Somerset is a nature reserve owned by the National trust. EBBOR GORGE. there is free parking and a wonderful walk through an ancient gorge carved out in the limestone millions of years ago. Hidden in a woodland you will walk down into the gorge then up through the cliffs. On this walk you will find hand crafted statues, a gentle stream and wildlife. Once you reach the top of the gorge there is views that are like no other. Tree tops and far reaching across Somerset. This beats any other destination that I've visited around Europe.

So many gems this year but one of the best was the Sardine Festival in Skala Kallonis, Lesvos. Full of locals dancing and free samples of ouzo, honey and sardines. Cookery demos and a brilliant atmosphere set in a beautiful fishing village with the friendliest little businesses. We got up at dawn to watch the sardine boats returning with their catch. Simple things in life are often the best moments. Captured loads of moments with my phone camera and an amazing coverage of 5g in most places I visited on this island.

The best hidden gem was when travelling around Thailand on the island named kho pagn nang. I was exploring on a moped with a friend, came across a small village where we refuelled our scooters and we're invited to have lunch with a family who showed us their homestead and beautiful waterfall and stream they used to bathe and water their crops in the border of the tropical rainforest. Mangoes grew wild like apples here in the UK. There were wild boar, lizards and monkeys in the forest, some of the monkeys came to say his and inspected us like strange aliens in their home. It was a truly awesome experience. The Thai people are the most kind, gentle and generous people..we learnt a lot and helped cooked dinner with em later that evening, swapping stories of life in our respective countries. I feel blessed to have had experiences such as these.

A rugged, water-resistant power bank with built-in cables. Between navigation maps, holiday photos, and streaming music, beach days drain phone batteries at double speed—especially with screen brightness maxed out under the sun. Having a compact, sand-sealed power bank means no loose charging cables getting jammed with grit and zero anxiety about being stranded with a dead battery when it's time to call a taxi back from an isolated cove!
