Pen y Ghent is a favourite of mine for shorter hikes. I love the steep scramble near the top and the way the views open up so suddenly. It’s a solid climb that fits easily into a morning or afternoon – perfect when I need a quick adventure.

I keep coming back to The Cheviot for its peace and isolation. It’s not the flashiest mountain, but the quiet up there is something special. I always leave feeling refreshed, like I’ve been properly away from everything.

The woods and the hills behind my house are amazing! There is always a fresh wind here (Scotland) and have a walk in the woods means that you can feel all the power the nature!

I live near a nature reserve and also a marina it’s a brilliant place to be and just reflect on

the beauty of the wildlife and nature around us the walks are all flat and each path leads you to a different part of the reserve we stand in the hide to wait for the many birds or watch the swans in the river

there Is a cafe you can sit and also enjoy the view all very good for the soul both at the  Attenborough nature reserve and  beeston

marina in Nottingham.

One of our favourite walks is a circular route starting and ending in Conwy, North Wales.

A gentle stroll along the harbourside leads to quite a steep climb through the wood and up the mountain and that in turn leads to a wonderful walk across the moors where you often see wild ponies.

You loop round along narrow country lanes and eventually past a radio mast where you get the most fantastic vista across Conwy harbour and Deganwy and out to the right up the Conwy estuary. Dropping down back into Conwy we reward ourselves with chips eaen on the harbourside .

Hadrian’s Wall, from Cawfield Quarry to Housesteads. A challenging walk with stunning scenery, alongside the incredible remains of the 1900 year old wall built by the Romans.

Smardale viaduct which can be a daily walk and get your 10,000 steps for the day done!  Looks very different through the seasons.

Did a beautiful long hike on Xmas day along the Peak District Mam Tor trail. Beautiful breeze & views. Was a bit cold but that added to the excitement.

One of my favourite walks is about 4 miles long starting right by my doorstep in Oxfordshire. Leaving Horspath village we ascend the hill track into Shotover national park. Arriving at Shotover Plain offers a chance to catch your breath whilst enjoying a commanding view of the famous ‘dreaming spires’ of Oxford city. From here we go East and follow ‘The Avenue’’, a gentle one mile descent through an Avenue of towering Ash trees. All along this section we can look to the East/North East with views over the beautiful rural landscape around Wheatley and surrounding villages. Next we walk through the grounds of Shotover House and arrive at West Field. Cross the field diagonally, following the footpath, to reach the Western edge of Wheatley village. Here there is a choice of places to take refreshments; My favourites, both located on the High Street, are the Cornfield bakery and Bruins, an artisan cafe. For the return we can retrace our steps or, depending on the mood, take the 46 bus back to Horspath or all the way to Oxford city centre.

Snowdonia Slate Trail or Llwybr Llechi Eryri in Welsh. 83 miles of very varied terrain with some fantastic views. Completed about a third of it so far, sciatica over the last few months has prevented me doing more but on the mend now and looking forward to completing the whole route.
