4g too slow to use Internet?

4g connected all the time but unusable Internet? My Internet seemed fine when I first got the phone, now the past 6 weeks or so it's been a nightmare. Any ideas ?

@Crssidmobile,

You can check the coverage at a specific location using our Coverage Checker and Network Status Checker.

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/coverage#coverage-info

If there are no issues reported and the service is showing as good, please test the SIM in another handset.

Alternatively we can also send out a replacement SIM to test.

Do you see the same up/down stats every hour over a 24-hour time period, @Nelly221087?

Hi @Nelly221087

Sorry to hear this, please could you let us know the postcode(s) where you’re having issues?

Is this issue is certain postcode(s) or everywhere?

Experiencing what feels like very slow internet speeds since joining iD mobile a couple months ago. Far slower than Giffgaff? Is this expected.

Did this speed test at Waterloo station:

I am having the same issues - I am based in Sutton SM14FS and the connection is so bad and indoors it’s non existent. I have the lastest model iPhone and on the latest iOS. I’ve changed the SIM, tested it on another handset but I don’t get more the 3mbps download. I was in the park away from treesand was getting about 970kbps!! I rely on this for my business and it’s not useable.

I’ve also tried to get an eSIM, but this team fails every time to get send this to me.

I don’t want to leave but this can’t be right???

Hey there @Ahad Surooprajally, we’re sorry to hear that.

I’ve tried searching this postcode on our network checkers, but it says it’s invalid. Can you confirm it’s correct, or re-confirm it correctly if not please?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @Tyler  - my bad, my office is based at SM1 4AF.

A couple of things I noticed, in the morning I get around 10mbps 9 inside and outside, in the afternoon it drops off to less than 3Mbps.

My daughter on the same networks get similar results.

Is there a cap on the speed?

I would bet it's a congestion issue three has been terrible for a few years now. The reason I originally joined three which as I'm sure you are aware uses I'd was because with EE I got 0.04mbps on speed test it was completely unusable where as 3 was over 100mbps. Now I'd is exactly the same during the day it virtually unusable I've been tethering all day just to try and get some usage out of my data and I'm struggling to stream video but come evening when everyone is at home I get around 50mbps current I'm getting about 2mbps. I have fibre to my home so it isn't the end of the world but it's not the most reliable so having the phone as backup is important but it's virtually unusable and struggles with any form of load. Even just playing Fortnite which uses very little data I have the statistics on screen and it's about 30kbps I still had issues in game. It's shocking but if I go.three.miles down the road to a small village the speed is superb so again proves it's a congestion issue. Personally I'd rather pay more to I'd for them to put in more infrastructure than have a cheap but poor service but the options for unlimited are small and I don't think it's something ee even offer.

@ha05ger I've used all the network in the UK at my billing address over the year's as I travelled a lot and lived overseas, I don't have broadband so mobile data is a must for me. I get 5G maximum signal reading and some super fast speeds then again there are time I get Dail up speeds if your familiar with such a service, as the main mast that serves me get congested regularly. As your aware nothing is guaranteed most of the other network's do have unlimited data plans as doe's EE. I feel your pain.

Hey there @Ahad Surooprajally, we don’t cap our speeds, no.

When connected here, are you connected to 3G, 4G or 5G please?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi I'm in a small town in Suffolk so it's 4g at best. 4g+ does pop up but never works. I've had super fast 5g speeds in a larger town 20 miles away. I am very familiar with dial up I'm in my 30s and don't miss those days but when 4g is similar speeds it is a bit of a joke.

Hi kash my postcode is co10 1 Sudbury Suffolk. This has been ongoing for years it's quite obviously an over subscription of the service in my area and nothing can be done about it.

Hi @ha05ger

Okay, it’s noted by Three UK that there is expected congestion in the area which may affect service, this could also be affecting your data speeds.

Yes it is definitely congestion as during the late evening and night speeds are relatively good around 40mbps but the majority of the day we are below 5mbps which is poor really.
