Can no longer make telephone calls on idmobile, have to resort to WhatsApp or Messenger. What has happened to the network?

For the last few weeks, both my wife and my phones (seperate IDMobile accounts) are unable to make calls without resorting to the use of WhatsApp or Messenger.

You dial a number and it just hangs in silence, no ringing tone. Nothing happens.

On occasion the person you are calling, calls you to say they have received a call from you, but after repeating ‘hello’ a number of times, they hang up and ring you direct.

This has been going on for weeks, so I am hoping somebody can enlighten me with a solution.

Thanks Joe,

It’s not just the house, we experience the same issue whilst out shopping.

Basically the most common experience by either of us is, you call somebody on the phone, there is no ringing and it just hangs there. Every so often it will ring.

However, what normally happens is, the person we rang, rings back and says the answered and kept saying hello but heard nothing.

Will continue to report whilst we look for a different provider

@bungys  Hub there considering you're both experiences the same problem may well be due to 3G  communication mask being put out of commission and relying on the 4G or 5G for services which may not be strong in your location, hence you both having issues. Failing that there's a fault or maintenance work in or around your postal area.

Have either of you check the network status checker?

Good call, we hadn’t checked the status:  

We're fixing an issue in this area at the moment and aim to have things back up-and-running as soon as possible.

It has been ongoing for 3 weeks, but happy to monitor for another 7 days.

Tried making a call again tonight and again it just hung, so resorted to using messenger.

 

I will keep you updated

@bungys 3 weeks is a long time and to monitor this problem for a further week. An investigation would be more likely as this would be 4 weeks you've been unable to use the service in said location.

By the way I'm just a community member like yourself and not an IDMobile employee.

The service team has communicated a number of times on this issue, but were unable to resolve it.

My wife and I have now switched providers.
