Configuring MMS setting manually

Forum|alt.badge.img

I have an iPhone 15 Pro and I’m not always able to send messages.  I do have MMS enabled and according to Chat GPT, I need to configure the MMS settings manually.

Anyone know how to do that on an iPhone?

Many thanks

Paul

You can’t change the MMS APN fields because the iD Mobile iOS profile hides this information from its customers.

Hi Kash and many thanks for coming back to me.  I’ve just tried to send a straight forward text to ‭[REDACTED]‬ with no images etc.  Some go through and some don’t.  I have got iMessages enabled on iCloud but I thought that if the recipient didn’t have an iPhone, it just reverted to a normal message anyway.  If you can tell me what I’m doing wrong, I’d be really grateful.

Many thanks and kindest regards

Paul

PS - My iPhone is obviously connected to my iMac and shares the messages app

Hey there @Paul Loseby, just to check, is your bill cap high enough to allow the charges for MMS messages to go through please?

Thanks,

Tyler

I don’t know Tyler.  I think I have it set at £25 but I very, very rarely send any pics or attachments

Paul

Hi there @Paul Loseby, £25.00 would be way more than an MMS costs, so that shouldn’t be the issue in this case.

When you go into phone settings, does your phone number showing correct just to check?

Thanks,

Tyler

Yes but with +44 rather than (0)7368 etc

Many thanks for looking into it Tyler.  I do appreciate it.

Kindest Regards

Paul

Hi Sian, Kash, and Tyler,  Kash and Tyler and I wonder if you could help me again, please. Same thing: some texts send and others don’t, even to people where the texts have gone through fine before. I’ve got two ‘not delivered’ today to a person where they always go through. When I start to send, the address comes up in green. I type the message. There is no ‘arrow’ to click to send, but if I just hit return, it seems to go but then comes back as ‘Not Delivered.’

I have done these using my iMac but with my phone at the side, which is set to transfer texts to the iMac. They come back as a send failure when sent directly from the iPhone.

Sorry to be a pain, but it would be lovely to be able to send the texts.

Kindest regards,

Paul

Hi @Paul Loseby

When you go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, does it show the correct number?

Hi @Paul Loseby

Has this only just started happening or has it happened since joining?

Have you tried a network settings reset?

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Resetting network settings will NOT reset any personal data (Photos, Videos, Contacts etc) only network settings.

I had done that but tried again.  Now it is saying MMS messaging needs to be enabled to send this message. It was only 12 words of text.

I have just enabled MMS and changed to Send Message as Text, but does that mean I will get charged by ID Mobile each time as they charge for MMS messages?

Hey there @Paul Loseby, MMS messages are indeed charged, that’s correct. However, if you’re only sending normal texts, without emojis or photos, then this wouldn’t be an MMS message and you shouldn’t be charged.

Thanks,

Tyler
