I have an ID plan already. Contract about to end. Searched around and cheaper upgrade via mobiles for you but still on ID network. I now want to keep my number in new phone how do I do that as PAC number only if you are leaving network!! Any help appreciated as going round in circles

The easiest way is to get a free PAYG sim from Three & activate it (no top-up required) then get your PAC from ID and port the number to Three on the day your contract ends - not before of you’ll likely get an early termination charge!

Once your number is with Three then get a PAC from them and port it to your new contract with ID.

It can take a day or so each time so best to do the porting at the beginning of the week if you can as porting takes 24-48 hours on weekdays but if you request the porting on a Friday it won’t likely happen until Tuesday as they don’t do it on weekends.

Hi @TraceyHazell

Thanks for reaching out. To confirm, iD Mobile doesn’t support internal transfers between accounts, so if you’ve taken out a new contract rather than upgrading your existing iD plan, your number can’t be moved across directly. If you want to keep your current number, the usual process is to port it out to another network first and then back in. Can you confirm whether, when you placed the order with Mobiles.co.uk, you were under the impression it was an upgrade to your existing contract rather than a brand-new contract?

Thanks,

Tashnieka

I had been looking at deals as my contract is out soon. I had no idea it would be this tough to stay with the same network particularly when the upgrade deals provided via IF mobile are significantly higher costs. I find it quite disgusting and so ridiculous not being able to switch an old number to a new plan in the same network without having to leave and re join that said network! Utter shambles or monopoly!

Hi @TraceyHazell

I’m really sorry and I understand why this feels so frustrating and unfair, especially when you’ve been looking to keep the same number and stay on the same network.

I understand how disappointing it is that we can’t do internal ports across to a new plan. At the moment, the only way to keep your existing mobile number on iD Mobile is to upgrade rather than move the number onto a brand-new account.

If you’d like, I can arrange for one of our sales team to contact you and check whether we have any similar deals we can offer that may be closer to the mobiles.co.uk pricing you’ve seen.

've just sent you a private message to help get this sorted.

To find it, click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select ‘Private Messages’.
