Incorrect Roaming Charges

Hi,

Looking for some help,

Hi, I’ve flown into Corfu, Greece this evening from the UK. I have a ID Mobile Pay Monthly account with Unlimited Data, Calls and Texts.
Upon landing I received three texts massages welcoming me to Bosnia, Croatia and Albania.
I then received further texts stating I had used up my data and would be charged.

I’m in Greece which is covered by the Roaming Plan for 30GB. I had been in the country for minutes so I have definitely not used 30GB of data.

I still have not had a Welcome to Greece email.

i only chose ID Mobile due to its Roaming features, first time in use and it’s not going as I’d hoped.

Anyway someone can look into this?

Hi @Louie1217

Thank you for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear about your experience, especially as this was your first opportunity to use your roaming service.

The reason we recommend setting your Bill Cap to £0 before travelling is to help prevent unexpected out-of-plan roaming charges. When you're close to international borders, your handset can sometimes automatically connect to a neighbouring network instead of one of our preferred roaming partners. In your case, your phone appears to have briefly connected to networks in Bosnia, Croatia and Albania, which are outside our inclusive EU roaming destinations and may therefore generate chargeable usage.

The text messages you received were sent to warn you that chargeable roaming usage had been detected. If this happens, we'd recommend either:

  • Turning your SIM off or enabling Flight Mode until you're able to manually select the correct network, or
  • Manually selecting one of our preferred roaming partners in Greece to prevent your handset from connecting to a neighbouring network.

If you'd like us to review the charges or check what network your handset connected to, please contact us via Live Chat or send us a direct message through one of our social media platforms, and we'll be happy to investigate further.

We apologise again for the inconvenience caused.

Kind regards,

Owethu

Hi,

So I’m in Corfu which boarders Albania, intermittently throughout the day I will receive a Welcome to Albania text and then my Mobile Data/Calls etc are charging me.

This is happening a lot on ID Mobile. Other people here on 02 and EE are having less problems.

Sadly this morning our group become split on some Quad Bikes and I could not call the other group which is a bit of a risk in the mountains here.

Could this be looked into for the charges I’m incurring? Would it be best to do this at the end of the trip?

The only reason I use ID Mobile is for Roaming. If this persists I’ll have to leave.
