multiple contracts created instead of just one

Went to get a new contract early on Sunday morning and the website ended up making 3 contracts. I tried chatting with customer service as soon as it hit 9am but they couldn't cancel them, only one got cancelled.

They said that if I got in touch with my bank and got them to cancel one of the 2 £70 charges that that would stop the second contract from going through...it didn't

I now have 2 phones turning up on Thursday and 2 direct debits set up when I only wanted one for myself.

How can I get this resolved?

Hi @TeejayR,

When your contract is disconnected or returned you’ll be a charged for the days that your account was connected.

You can contact our Live Chat Team if you believe that it is incorrect or you can get back to us here and we can PM you.

Hi there @TeejayR

So of the 3 contracts iD cancelled 1🙄

And 2 are turning up 😯

iD telling you to cancel one of the upfront costs could cause the debt to be passed over to a debt recovery business, so this requires iD to address this urgently.

What I would do is wait until both turn up and then immediately cancel the extra 1. The only downside is you would have to pay the returns cost - use signed for - for the unwanted phone.

From then hopefully a member of staff on here may be able to refund the returns cost (and cancel the charge even though you were advised to stop the payment) as you tried to cancel 2 of the 3 and iD couldn’t.

Good luck 🤞

Thanks for the reply and the info.

I did take a screenshot of the the reply as I didn't know if they saved chats or not.

I couldn't find how to cancel, it's a massive pain.

No problem @TeejayR

After the extra one arrives, this should help

https://community.idmobile.co.uk/returns-174/how-do-i-return-my-order-45154

Read the above so you’re familiar, but basically it’s this:

Please give us notice of your cancellation within the cooling-off period and obtain a Return Transaction Number by contacting us at idmobile.co.uk/live-chat.

But if you want to pursue a refund as the site was acting up and thus caused you to order multiples, they might be able to sort this via live chat too (but they may not, that’s their call). The other thing is if a staff member on here can assist with this too.

Thanks @Daz_S

I saw something about going to a Curry's store and returning and cancelling there, do you know anything about that?

What are the chances of a staff member responding on here.

Hey there @TeejayR, sorry to hear that.

If the orders haven’t been cancelled and are on our way, we apologise for this. You will need to get in touch with us to sort a return. Please contact us via our live-chat or via social media so we can set these returns up for you once you receive them.

Thank you,

Tyler

Sadly not, as Tyler confirmed. I personally don’t agree with it, and think it needs a rethink, but we are bound by their T’s and C’s, even if it appears to be their site causing the issue...🙄
