I have upgraded and existing sim keeps dropping signal for

long periods- doesn’t work for long and then drops out of signal for hours- what should I do? Is this because the sim is now t compatible?

Hi @Kevball1965

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear that your existing SIM is repeatedly losing signal for several hours at a time after your upgrade. I understand how frustrating this must be.

An upgrade does not normally make your existing SIM incompatible with your handset. However, the issue could be related to the SIM, handset, network connection or coverage.

Please try the following:

  • Restart your handset and allow a few minutes for it to reconnect to the network.
  • Turn Airplane Mode on for around 30 seconds, then switch it off.
  • Set your handset to 4G/LTE only and test the service again.
  • If you're using a physical SIM, switch the handset off, remove and reinsert the SIM securely, then restart the device.
  • Check that your handset software is fully up to date.
  • If possible, test your iD Mobile SIM in another compatible, unlocked handset. This will help establish whether the issue follows the SIM or is specific to your new handset.
  • If you have access to the new SIM supplied with your upgrade, please check whether this works more reliably than your existing SIM.

If the existing SIM continues to lose signal for hours at a time, please contact us via Live Chat. Our team can complete the necessary security checks, check the SIM and network service, and advise whether a replacement SIM or further technical investigation is required.

We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to get your service working reliably.
