no switch

I recently upgraded to receive a free Nintendo switch , and they said I don't qualify for one after I signed up , below are the requirements and what I purchased,  am I wrong ?

Best answer by Daz_S

Honestly, thanks and I really don’t mind. I’ve always been one to help others when I can.

Like I said if it wasn’t for the Switch being for your lad for Christmas I probably wouldn’t have gone to this level. But then again knowing me I probably would’ve anyway!

If live chat confirmed this and with the differences in their own terms, plus the fact your phone purchase was originally part of the deal and then they changed it I really do hope they check this and admit you should have had the deal. If not its only been my time wasted, but I would be truly frustrated for you if they say you didn’t. If that’s the case I’d return the phone and move provider. Maybe other providers have a similar deal.

Yes I know there’s a lot of other customers whom have either not spotted they bought the wrong deal or they’re adamant they did buy the right one. For some I get the impression iD do agree as some staff take this to private message and being as the poster never comes back I have to assume they got what they wanted.

Oh blimey, you’re looking at another deal. If you do, look for (and screenshot) the deal in the basket before clicking on Checkout securely. From there you might need to use another phone and take pictures of subsequent pages (as some sites now don’t permit screenshots for security reasons) just in case this happens again.

Hi @SAMZYTA1234

The Nintendo Switch Bundle offer is only available on selected tariffs.

If the tariff selected was eligible, the Nintendo Switch will have appeared separately at checkout. It will also be listed on your contract summary document.

Wow. You’re another one.

But now it looks like iD Mobile have made a huge error with this offer. I know I’ve seen the qualifying phones in your screenshot so you are correct. The only other thing is maybe the SG and GP phones have sold out.

However having just checked the only qualifying phone now is the Motorola Edge 50 Neo

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/claim-your-offer

(scroll down to the offer)

And https://www.idmobile.co.uk/offers/christmas-nintendo-switch-offer

(scroll down to the offer, they’ve removed the Samsung, Pixel and Honor phones)

Hopefully iD will clarify on here. I can see you’ve already used their live chat.

edit. Do you see anywhere on any email that said this

“Nintendo Switch Lite Bundle”

So before I upgraded,  the purchase screen said for the 128gb and 10gb data qualifies for the Nintendo switch bundle

I even live chatted yesterday to confirm that the switch would come with the phone and wad told yes

The offer for the deal states google pixel 9 , 10gb 50gb 100gb or unlimited and the phone being 128gb

I chose all those options,  and it said you qualify for the bundle

But only received the phone today and was told by an agent today I didn't qualify

I clearly followed the offer and signed up for 2 years again ,.as I wanted the switch for a gift

You can see that I selected the correct tariff that qualified me for the switch , and nothing

I’d say from what I can see you were probably right.

Others had the same.

The problem is they’ve since changed the offer. You can tell it was changed as they left something behind

There were other phones listed.

I’ve just had guests arrive here so can’t continue (I’ve had ‘the look’ from the wife). But when they’re gone I’m sure I’ve copied the full terms for somebody else on here somewhere.

@SAMZYTA1234,

You can view the tariffs that are eligible below.

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/shop/pay-monthly/motorola-edge-50-neo

Just to advise as mentioned on the contract Tariff will explicitly state the deal.

@SAMZYTA1234 I’ve just written a very long and detailed reply. It took 45 mins to compile as I was verifying everything I wrote. I hit send and I’m hoping it went for review as it’s not showing.

But in a nut shell this link -https://www.idmobile.co.uk/claim-your-offer- refers to data tariff, not price tariff that Kash has referred to. Also I know there were 6 phones on this deal, not the 1 now showing.

Full terms and conditions available at www.idmobile.co.uk/offers/christmas-nintendo-switch-offer.

Hi Daz

Looks like they haven't listed it doesn't it , but the link sums it all up doesn't it

Now what to hear from them,  I mean the offer was there when I chose to upgrade,  otherwise I wouldn't have upgraded lol

Hi @SAMZYTA1234 @Daz_S,

As per the terms of the deal the deal is on selected plans.

If an upgrade has taken place a return can be processed and a new upgrade can be placed for the correct plan.

As it’s an upgrade a credit check won’t take place.

So when I chose to upgrade , the offer of a Nintendo Switch was there for the Google pixel 9 128gb on either the plan of 10gb 50gb 100g  or unlimited

I opted for the 10gb option and paid £69 upfront also ...

I wouldn't have processed the upgrade if the switch wasn't available

Okay so it never got posted. Oh well🙄. Luckily I kept the screenshots😉

Kash, you’re missing the point. That offer originally listed 6 different qualifying phones. Even a representative of iD confirmed these 6 phones in their response to @SAMZYTA1234 (heading claim your offer - the dark blue shows its for their 6 year old son and Liyema confirmed the offer)

No where on THAT text does it stipulate certain price tariffs. It does however state DATA tariffs.

Furthermore, this link (now altered to show ONLY the Neo) states this

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/offers/christmas-nintendo-switch-offer

Purchase a Motorola Edge 50 Neo between 03/12/2024 - 23/12/2024 on selected qualifying tariffs, excluding SIM free purchases, and receive a set of “NINTENDO Switch Lite: Timmy & Tommy's Edition with Animal Crossing: New Horizons installed & Nintendo Switch Online 12 Month Membership” usually £199 as part of a bundle offer.

  • Full details of the Qualifying Tariffs and the corresponding offer are set out in Table 1 below

Table 1 - Eligible Promotion Handsets, Tariffs and Corresponding Offer

Handset Tariff Offer

Motorola Edge 50 Neo or
10GB*
50GB*
100GB Data*
Unlimited Data*
*Tariff will explicitly state “Nintendo Switch Lite Bundle”
Nintendo Switch Lite usually £199
126 units available

It does not explicitly state price tariffs, it shows data tariffs. However has this also been changed since the removal of the other 5 qualifying phones?

This link also makes no reference to price tariffs either

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/claim-your-offer

Receive a Nintendo Switch Lite Bundle.

Purchase a Motorola Edge 50 Neo between 03/12/2024 - 23/12/2024 (or whilst stocks last - 126 units available) on selected 10GB, 50GB, 100GB or Unlimited data tariffs, excluding SIM free purchases, and receive a set of “Nintendo Switch Lite: Timmy & Tommy's Edition with Animal Crossing: New Horizons installed & Nintendo Switch Online 12 Month Membership” usually £199.

Full terms and conditions available at www.idmobile.co.uk/offers/christmas-nintendo-switch-offer.

The Nintendo Switch Lite bundle will be dispatched with your order. Not valid in conjunction with any other offer (unless expressly stated in that offer).

The Nintendo Switch Lite bundle offer is non-transferable, no cash alternative. If the purchase is returned, the Nintendo Switch Lite bundle must also be returned.

Look at the wording - your own terms change. This one -https://www.idmobile.co.uk/offers/christmas-nintendo-switch-offer- states on selected qualifying tariffs yet this one -https://www.idmobile.co.uk/claim-your-offer- states on selected 10GB, 50GB, 100GB or Unlimited data tariffs therefore iD HAVE 2 different statements so which one is correct?

I understand your posted response (showing the price tariffs) but no where on any of the links I’ve put in this reply does it state the price tariffs. If I missed it show me on those links please.

I would have to guess to say that a Google Pixel 9 128GB, with 10GB data over a 24 month period and with a £69 upfront cost would likely have qualified on the original deal, now changed to remove 5 different phones. I’d have to say Trading Standards would have something to say about this @SAMZYTA1234. For reference it would have been number 2 on the above screenshot Kash posted

Why were the Samsung S24 Ultra 128GB, Google Pixel 9 128GB, Google Pixel 9 Pro 128GB, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL 128GB and the Honor Pro removed? They used to be there?

But the terms changed at some point though Kash😮….? At the time of ordering the GP Pro 128GB I’d have to say it would have been there. So if @SAMZYTA1234 returns that phone and opts for the Neo they get the switch? When did the original deal with 6 phones change?

What about the difference in your terms and why were 5 phones removed, probably AFTER this ballsup was spotted, yet around the time the order was likely placed.

I get your point, but I get mine more. Can you ask the IT guys to check the original terms for the original (6 phone) deal? If the 6 phones (that even Liyema copied) were never an option this is surely false advertising?

I’m beginning to wonder if somebody in iD messed this all up and there could be 126 other people out there without their switch too and have not found these forums yet.

Hi daz

Thankyou for all.your hard work buddy . You've absolutely nailed it , and it is false advertising,  and basically a scam . I'm sure their ombudsman would like to see how they are enticing existing customers and new ones in with fake offers

There is definitely a case here for trading standards,  I have all the proof and screen shots of chats

I forgot to say that yesterday they tried to fob me off with £20 off my next bill

DO NOT ACCEPT THE £20

Honestly @SAMZYTA1234 its not a problem. When I get a bee in my bonnet it kinda stays there. I know there were 6 phones and I’d have to say at the time you ordered you rightly ticked all the right boxes.

And that’s exactly what I hope they’ll do, and before Christmas.

I still just can’t understand why the original offer was changed and why it ran for x days before being changed. You must have seen the GP 128GB on a 10GB tariff or like you’ve said why would you have bought it. At the end of the day even their own live chat gave you the proof the deal was there.

My guess is there’s up to another 127 customers out there whom have been in touch with iD about not getting their deal too. THEN they changed the deal.

Just spotted the link Kash posted is on their idmobile.co.uk/shop URL too.

And thus far using either the idmobile.co.uk/offers or idmobile.co.uk/claim-your-offer links do not go to the idmobile.co.uk/shop URL. If someone can see how this redirects then let me know.

You can’t dangle a carrot then eat it yourself!

They will drag their heels daz

They have totally ruined xams for my 6 year old , times are hard that's why I thought a switch for free is perfect

They have obviously f***ed up and don't care how they've left loyal customers,  they want us to resign for 2 more years,  and not honour the deals they offer

Definitely a case here for misrepresentation

Might even contact the press and say how I'd mobile are luring people in , and then changing the parameters of these offers and then completely removing Said offers and leaving people witj nothing that was promised

And you need to do play them at their own game <edited an error?

I know they have, my reply that never got posted referred to your lad. And that’s what made me get this involved. I knew if was for him for Christmas. And I did refer to him again (I can see it on the screenshots to iD live chat above). For the poop its caused if I had the spare money I’d have bought it for Santa to give to him myself. I have to say the route you took lead you to an issue of their making, not yours.

I fully understand times are hard, the country is on its arse and I can’t see things getting any better for the foreseeable. I’m not lighting an open fire here with £50 notes either.

I have to agree. There was an offer, they must’ve cocked it up, they’ve then realised (probably due to many others contacting them) and are not adhering to the agreed deals, more so now they’ve removed them.

But from looking around these forums, those that do go on a ‘deal journey’ are seeing a price and are selecting the cheapest option (and why wouldn’t you) and its this price that doesn’t qualify. BUT IMHO if you’re following the original journey to a deal/gift then prices that don’t qualify should be removed at THEIR end to avoid this happening in the first place.

Depending on where you took this deal you have either 14 days or 30 days to cancel (you would need to pay the returns cost for the phone and if you do this then use a signed for service), so see if they agree to the Switch and stay or (as long as they don’t drag this out) if they say no hand it all back, move to another provider. But seek advice about all of this from Citizens Advice too.

In this instance, being as the evidence points to the deal being ‘amended’, going to the media may be a good idea. One person reporting this might get the attention of any others that also got thought they were getting the Switch and didn’t.

IMHO, if a customer is going via a Christmas deal with the intention of obtaining a gift then as they progress through the options the price tariffs that don’t qualify should be removed at the sellers end prior to checking out.

The problem you and I have is that that deal has been removed from their site, so I can’t check what it said now.

And I’ve been having a play with this too, mainly because I’ve asked others what the ‘>’ does to the side of the “Nintendo Switch Live bundle available >”

And all it does is opens a popup stating this

(note 1 I used the link Kash posted)

(note 2 it used to have 6 phones in total before the removal of 5 other phones)

And so I went through all the options of actually buying the Neo phone, firstly for the 10GB at £18.99 price (after clicking on the popup above) and

And then I did the same for the same Neo but at the £21.99 and blink and you’ll miss the additional bundle information

(Granted this one shows the upfront cost too)

They also didn’t think of people that are colour blind when using green lettering or why did they not include a picture of the Switch with the phone too. A kinda belt and braces approach. The problem is I can’t check your purchasing journey as they’ve removed the phone you bought, which is frustrating.

But note on either the Neo without the bundle or the Neo with the bundle both URL’s show https://www.idmobile.co.uk/beta/basket meaning (IMO) the URL page is ready for use but is not perfect. So is it after this point (after going through the checkout) does it remove the bundle….. IDK

Furthermore, your price was £30.99 with an upfront cost of £69.

However iD NEED TO CHECK that out too because on

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/shop/pay-monthly/google-pixel-9-128gb-obsidian

It states you get 3 months free McAfee and it will be emailed to you

But not ONE price TARIFF has the inclusion of McAfee as an option!

So I went to buy one, expecting to see something that refers to McAfee and I couldn’t see anything.

Non of the 4 price tariffs for the GP 9 show any reference to McAfee being included in my basket

I give up!

About the Chromebook offer, so I had a look🙄.

If you look at the prices Kash posted for the Neo, you’ll see the 10GB data amounts have a low price (without the Switch) and a higher price (with the Switch) and 50GB low = no, 50GB high = yes and so on.

But on the Samsung Chromebook deal even the lower price includes the Chromebook Go

So logically why would you pay £29.99 (£39 upfront) for 10GB to get the Chromebook when you can pay £27.99 (still with £39 upfront) for 10GB and STILL get the Chromebook.
