PAYG

I have two questions regarding payg..

  1. Will my account remain active if I do not use or top up my sim?
  2. How does cancellation of payg work?

Hi  @FlowerGirl,

Welcome to the Community!

For information on leaving or cancelling you can visit the link below:

As per the terms and conditions.

12.4 Unless an additional Top-Up has been made, any unused Credit will expire after a period of 365 days from the date of purchase and unused allowances will expire as specified and this is non-refundable.

12.5 If you don't apply any Credit to your account, purchase a bundle, or make a chargeable event within 4 months of the expiry of the Introductory Period or, if later, the date you last applied Credit to your Account, your Account may be disconnected.

I have a £10 per month PAYG.  If after 1 month I do not continue to pay, will calls, texts , data be charged at the PAYG rate off the £10 until expired ?

Hi @Toad008

I’m not sure what you mean, if you have a Pay As You Go plan, you’ll pay for what you use or pay for bundles within the app.

Tom

With the older conventional PAYG, you paid up front and the amount was debited as you used it.

i.e   calls  25p/ minute     text   5p say,  data  10p  a Mbyte  say.

With IdMobile PAYG these are unlimited text and calls for 1 month.

If I did not pay the additional £10 after 1 month how does it continue ?

Is the £10 then debited like the old PAYG until used up  ?

Hey there @Toad008, we used to offer re-occuring bundles where you were charged monthly for the same bundle, however, these are no longer offered. Therefore, you will need to purchase a new bundle each month after the current one expires, if that makes sense.

If after the bundle expires, you don’t purchase a new one, you wouldn’t be charged until you did purchase another one later on.

Thanks,

Tyler

No, question still not answered.  Strange I thought it was simple.

I will just have to see what happens with the payg account and work it out for myself.

Its very simple.

If I do not renew my £10 per month payg subscription, what happens to it, does it get used up with the standard payg rates ?

Hey there @Toad008, If you don’t renew the £10.00 PAYG subscription, then your PAYG will remain active with no credit on it, until you either top up or purchase another bundle again. So to confirm, if you purchase a £10.00 bundle, and don’t use all the allowances within a month, and then don’t re-purchase a bundle after the 1-month, then you’d have no allowances to use until you purchase another bundle or topped up again.

Thanks,

Tyler

IdMobile advertise payg rates which actually they don’t do now.  The payg system offered is almost the same as a monthly account, with no contract.

“iD Mobile Pay As You Go (PAYG) rates include 3p per minute for calls, 2p per text, and 1p per MB of data, according to iD Mobile Community. “

Giffgaff do exactly what I want, true payg for use in a tracker, so i will go to them.

Thanks

Alan

That’s not correct. With PAYG, if you let whatever bundle you are buying expire you get switched to 3/2/1 PAYG.

To use true PAYG , be sure to only top up your credit. Do not buy a bundle.

I’ve been on 3/2/1 PAYG for around three years (spare phone). Remaining credit is shown correctly, it all works just fine.

AFAIK, new customers can’t got straight onto true PAYG, have to buy a bundle for the first month, let it expire, then top up credit.

call charges

“If you have a Pay as you go (PAYG) plan with iD Mobile you can either purchase one of our six Pay as you go bundles, or literally pay as you go using the Top-up credit on your account.”

Good.

Finally the right answer which I thought was the case all along.

Hopefully test it the end of the month.
