We're sorry to hear you're having trouble receiving text messages and setting up WhatsApp.

To help narrow down the cause, could you let us know:

• Are you unable to receive all text messages, or just verification codes?
• Are you currently in the UK or abroad?

In the meantime, we'd recommend trying the following:

• Restart your phone.
• Check that your software is up to date.
• Make sure your network selection is set to Automatic.
• Perform a network settings reset.

For iPhone:

• Go to Settings.
• Tap General.
• Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
• Tap Reset.
• Choose Reset Network Settings.

We'd also recommend checking that your bill cap has been increased, as receiving picture messages (MMS) can be chargeable depending on their size. If your bill cap is set too low, this could prevent them from being delivered.
