Random call saying I am being sent a new sim

Has anyone else been called to say a new sim is being sent out as my current one will no longer be able to be used. When I asked how long until it stopped working, I was told 3 - 4 days. I could hardly understand the caller and got something about 3 and 4g. I said I had no correspondence from my mobile provider advising me of this. However I am concerned about my phone not being able to be used as I am undergoing tests at the hospital and need to be contactable. I will have to change providers if I don’t get a satisfactory reply on here as I am not going to just put a sim that someone is sending out unsolicited. She said she worked for the three network.

Hi @Time7,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

From what you've described, this does sound suspicious. We wouldn't typically contact customers out of the blue to advise that their SIM will stop working in a few days, nor would we arrange to send a replacement SIM following an unsolicited call. We also wouldn't make outbound calls unless there's a specific reason to do so, such as a customer-requested callback.

As you weren't expecting the call and hadn't received any prior communication from iD Mobile about replacing your SIM, I'd recommend treating this as a potential scam.

If you provided any banking or payment information during the call, please contact your bank as soon as possible so they can advise on the next steps and help protect your account.

If you shared any iD Mobile account information with the caller, please let us know, as we'll need to advise you on the appropriate next steps to help keep your account secure.

In the meantime, please don't insert any SIM card that arrives unexpectedly unless you've been able to verify its legitimacy.

I hope this helps to reassure you, especially given the importance of remaining contactable while you're undergoing hospital tests.

Regards,

Thank you Gemma for the clarification . I didn’t give any information and did not tell them who my mobile provider was.
