S24FE unable to receive calls texts

Hi

I have spent a week since my number was ported over to this new phone unable to receive calls texts.

Initially i was unable to make calls but this randomly was fixed on Tuesday but if you ring this phone number it says invalid number.

I’ve spent many hours on the live chat and various agents have suggested various settings changes but to no avail. It is supposedly with the tech team with whom i requested a call from at the beginning of the week but it never happened. I’ve tried new sim cards and even been into Currys but no luck.

Has this happened to anyone else and could anyone suggest any fixes? - I suspect its a porting issue but who knows??

Hi @Nick 72

What phone do you have?

Its a Samsung S24 FE

I’ve used another sim card from another number with iD in this phone and the handset works ok.

It seems my phone is European spec on looking at the IMEI search website.

From reading some of the threads there are issues with these phones using VOlte4G since the 3G shutdown.

Does anyone else have experience of this?

Hi @Nick 72

The first thing I suggest trying is requesting a replacement SIM as this could be the problem.
Please be aware that your account will be put on hold (you will be unable to use that number) until the new SIM has been activated.

There are a few different ways to get a replacement SIM. Here’s everything you need to know:

How do I get a replacement SIM?

If your SIM card doesn't fit your phone, or it's been lost or stolen, you’ll need a replacement. To get a replacement SIM card, you can:

  • Visit any Currys store.

Find your nearest store and head to the ‘Mobile’ section. One of our helpful Tech Experts will issue you a replacement SIM card.

  • Chat to us.

Our Live Chat team are able to issue you a replacement SIM card, which will be sent in the post to the account holder’s address.

Once you receive your replacement SIM card, you’ll need to activate it. Check out the steps in the article below:

Good Luck x

Thanks but I've tried 2 new SIM cards already.

Also put other SIM cards in the phone from other accounts and the handset works ok.

From doing an IMEI search it seems this phone a euro spec model.

Hey there @Nick 72, sorry to hear this.

We’d recommend contacting our live-chat to raise this further to our technical team:

Ho @Nick 72

Sounds like you need to install (Flash) UK unbranded software (Firmware) onto the phone for it to work.
This is a reply I gave to another customer who couldn’t get their handset to work as their handset was locked to EE….

What many people do not realise is that even though a handset is sold as ‘unlocked’ it only refers to using different provider SIMS.
When a handset is sold by a mobile phone provider they have their own software installed on it and unless you are connected to their network the software updates will never work.
Depending on which network softear is installed you will never get the updates required to be able to connect to VoLTE which is required to make/receive calls.
You need to see LTE in the Network Mode (this is a screenshot from my SG J4+)….

I had a SG J4+ with the same problem (software locked to Vodaphone ) and managed to find an answer that unlocked the phone so that it would never be hindered by a network again.

I detailed on how to ‘unlock’ a SG phone to unbranded software (where updates are sent direct from Samsung rather than a phone network) in this post…

If you want to go down this route, then pleasetake some time to look at ALL the information and watch the video! It may look overwhelming but it really isn’t! Read and look, step back and review again!
You may want to do a bit of research as well to ensure you can do it safely with the software already installed on the phone.
If you have any questions with regards to this then I am happy to help!
I hope this helps and good luck x

Hi Nick

Did you get your issue resolved? I ported my number from Smarty to ID yesterday and since its ported I can't receive calls - the message caller gets is the number is not recognised. I am also unable to receive sms texts - the sender says they are undeliverable. I can make calls and send sms texts fine. This issue has only happened since I ported my number and was fine before. I've spent full day online chatting with agents and checking settings etc, all are fine. I and also picked up new sim from curry's and the problem still persists. Even when insert the sim into my old handset it doesn't work but other sims work fine in both handsets so issue must be down to the port or network. It's so frustrating!

Hi i didn't do anything to sort myself. Issue was nothing to do with the handset or sim. It was definitely a network/porting issue. My port was on the Thursday and unable to receive calls and texts but could make them. I got a new sim card from curry's on the Friday and didn't solve problem. A ticket was logged on the Friday to technical team. Then on sunday my phone ran out of battery and when I switched on again after charging a text came through and it was then working. Im not sure if ID technical team did something in background or maybe the split port sorted itself out automatically. I also contacted my previous supplier smarty and advised them of issue to see if they could help sort but I dont think they did anything as said wait to hear from id technical team and if no resolution come back to us.

Keep switching phone off and on at regular intervals but it could take few days to sort out if its same issue with me. Also get id customer service to log ticket with technical team and ask for a reference and request to be contacted via email as they will text you and you can't receive.
